Six Tips To Help Keep You Organized Online

I am going to admit, organization is an area I am consistently working toward improvement.  I just cannot seem to get it right, just when I think I have things figured out something happens and I am back to square one again.  Good news is, after a year of working 100% online I have found ways to stay organized online, and boost my productivity.

Managing Email

I have struggled, and struggled to keep up with my email, and finally have a system that works for me.  We are all different so what works for me might not work for you, but I find it easiest to have different email accounts for different things.  I have my personal email, which is where anything and everything personal goes, and I have two emails for my business.  I use one of my emails strictly for paid gigs, and the other one for everything else.  It helps me because I know I have one email account that must be checked several times a day, one I check once daily, and the other is whenever I have time.  This saves me time because I am not going through ever single email, I know what is what and what needs to be taken care of and when.  Again, this might not be something that works for you, but it might get some ideas flowing.

Managing Tasks

I have a daily planner, with tasks that need to be done daily, weekly, etc.  I have everything planned out a month in advance if at all possible.  I add everything from taking the kids to practice, calls I need to be on, or blog posts which are due in the same planner.  This helps me not overbook my day.  There is nothing worse than having too much to get done in a day, and not getting something done.

Stay Up To Date With Your Schedule

When I schedule my blog posts or things with a due date, I don’t schedule them for their due date, unless request.  I try to schedule them at least a week before they are due.  If you schedule everything for the day it is due, and something comes up you will be late.  When you schedule at least a week out you allow yourself times for life to happen.

Utilize Your Smartphone

Oh, you already know how much I love my cell phone.  It goes with me everywhere I go, and if you have a smartphone there are some GREAT apps to help you stay organized online and offline.  Be sure to take advantage of great apps to keep you organized, and don’t forget to utilize your phones calendar. Most mobile devices can easily be synched with your email account, which makes managing your schedule while you are away from the computer a breeze.

Social Media

Almost everyone has some type of social media account, and if you work online it’s likely you need to manage your social networks.  Managing all your social media accounts can be challenging, but with the right tools it can be done easily.  There are great services available to help you manage social media, like HootSuite, Sendable, and more.   If you are like me you probably use several different social media networks – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, Instagram, Tumblr, I could go on.  You can use Kifi to help keep all your social media accounts together, and organized so you don’t have to search around, or try to remember a link.  The great thing about Kifi is you can use it to keep you organized online in so many different ways.

If you are like me, you have tons of pages bookmarked, with good reason of course. When I find something I try to remember to bookmark it, but 90% of the time I forget, and end up spending time looking for it again, or just giving up. A few weeks ago I had a recipe I wanted to try, I bought everything for it, but forgot to bookmark the recipe. I spent over an hour trying to find it again. Needless to say, I was a little aggravated. Since I work online I have plenty of pages bookmarked, but I also spent plenty of time finding pages I should have bookmarked, digging through my email, searching for things I did bookmark, but did name something I would remember. It’s a real mess. Luckily we do not have to stress about it anymore, because we can sign up with Kifi.com for free.
