The holiday season can often be stressful. Check out these 11 tips for a less stressful holiday season. I hope we have some ideas that might help you find some relief during the holiday season.

The holidays are creeping up on us quickly.  Before we know it, we’ll be stuck in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.  Here are a few tips for a less stressful holiday season to help you get the holidays started on the right foot.

Tips for a Less Stressful Holiday Season

11 Tips for a Less Stressful Holiday Season

1.) Be prepared. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to be prepared for things.  I always have unexpected company, which is great, but I don’t like to be caught off guard.  So I try to keep extra shampoo, conditioner, soap, food, etc., and keep the house clean.  It just makes things easier when we have unexpected holiday company.

2.) List: Of course, a list is essential to making almost every situation less stressful.  Whether it’s heading to the store or things you need to get done around the house, put together a list, save yourself some, and make sure things get done right.

3.) Plan on spending the holidays at home. I can’t speak for everyone, but I enjoy the holidays at home.  I don’t have to plan to travel; family and friends visit, and we save money.  Spending the holidays at home with four children helps keep stress levels down.

4.) Don’t overdo it. Stop and breathe.  Don’t overdo it or plan to attend too many holiday events.

5.) Potlucks rock: If you are hosting any activities, consider having everyone bring a dish.  It will save you time and money and reduce stress levels.

6.) Focus on the actual meaning of the holidays. You don’t have to break this holiday season.  Remember the real meaning of the holidays: family and spending time with the ones we love.  Don’t feel like you need to purchase everyone a gift.  If needed, you can talk to your family before so everyone knows not to buy gifts.  We only buy gifts for the children.

7.) Remember your partner. It’s easy to forget about your partner during the holiday season with everything that is going on.  However, it’s important to fit in a date night, spend time together, and give one another attention.

8.) Spend time with your children. Spending time with kids always seems to make things better.  Stress seems to go away when I spend time with my kids.  It’s an awesome break from reality and a great way to catch your breath and remember what the holidays are about.  Plus, there isn’t anything better than watching children smile, especially during the holiday season, and the best part is that it doesn’t cost anything but a little time, attention, and love.

9.) Spend a little time on yourself. It’s easy to forget about yourself during the holidays.  Don’t; remember, you need little attention too.  Whether it’s a spa day, getting your hair done, or just relaxing on the couch with a good book, it’s important to give yourself a little attention too.

Snowman

10.) Play in the snow with the family – If you live in an area where it snows, enjoy it with the family.  Stop building a snowman and make snow angels.  Maybe even have a snowball fight!

11.) Think delivery: If you can make things easier and less stressful and still end up with a great product, why not have it delivered to you?  It not only saves time but also helps you mark things off your to-do list without you ever needing to leave the house.

Did you know you can get your Christmas tree and wreaths delivered with the Hilltop-tree Christmas tree and wreath delivery service?  Yes, and they deliver across the United States and Canada right to your doorstep, and your Christmas trees are cut to order with a standard delivery time of about seven days.  This makes your Christmas tree fresher and more aromatic, and it should last longer than trees bought at many stores.

Such great tips. I need to remember these because I tend to get stressed out around the holidays. I think it’s also stressful because I work full time and a a second job and I am in school. Goodness, lol.

Good list. I say every year i am going to be prepped by the end of November. Of course it never happens. I am going to try your list next year and hopefully accomplish my goal.

I’ve never been stressed about the holiday since I’ve never had to host a dinner for a big amount of people. The parents like to take care of that so we don’t have to stress over it. I hope we never have to do that ever. It looks like a huge amount of preparation.
