Marshal and Disney, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this amazing adventure! Disney paid for my trip, and Marshal is the amazing man who invited me! If you have not been to see Tho, Loki, and Sif in their new movie, Thor: The Dark World, you are missing out. It’s in theatres now, and I personally loved it! Our interview with Jaimie Alexander was a blast!
I sure hope you have been following my Thor: Red Carpet Premier Experience. If not, be sure and check out a few posts I think you will really like them: Thor: The Dark World Red Carpet Premier.
Okay, so let’s talk about the wonderful Jaimie Alexander. Yes, Sif from Thor! I have to admit, Sif is one of my favorite characters in Thor. She has been since the very first movie; I’m just waiting to see what happens in the next Thor, to be honest, because I so badly want her to steal the spotlight. I think maybe it’s the girl power thing going on. Well, that, and she’s amazing!
The first impression of Jaimie is that she’s awesome and not the typical girlie-girl! Which I love because I’m not a girlie-girl either. Anyway, let’s get started with the interview!
When Jaimie walked in, she was in a long green jacket, and she asked us if she looked like a Wookie and proceeded to tell us she did. She was dressed for the premiere and said we couldn’t see the dress until the premiere. It’s because she knew she looked slimy in her black dress! Even in a big green jacket, she looked amazing!
Before we got started, she told us how amazing we looked since we were all dressed up for the premiere, and to be honest, we all looked pretty darn amazing if you ask me! It’s not every day you see a room full of mom bloggers dressed to the max. Not only is she super sweet and super smart, but she’s also very funny. She always ends her statements with something funny, which I totally appreciate and thought was great.
Jaimie noticed that we had all tried to get colors that were Thorish and Lokish. She said she really liked and appreciated it. From the start, I couldn’t help but like her, but as the interview went on, she really stole my heart. Let me explain.
Q: How does it feel to be a female character?
Oh, man! That’s loaded. It’s an amazing feeling. Especially when the character is written so well, like mine is. You know, it’s about her personality and her physical flow. I think that’s the way to write a female character really well, and Marvel does that. So, for me, it’s been a dream come true.
Q: Your character in the comics has a romantic relationship with Thor. Will we get to see any of that, the triangle they have going on?
They hint at it a little bit, but they cannot go fully there, you know, yet they definitely hint at it. It’s fun because that’s in the comic books, and we definitely want to appease the fans. So, we put that there. I looked at him a few times. Unfortunately, he’s not shirtless in front of me, but that’s fine; it’s all right.
HAHA, SEE, I TOLD YOU AWESOME!!! Who doesn’t want to be shirtless in front of Thor?
Q: How did you prepare for the role?
I worked with a dialect coach to have a British accent. I also trained for about two month’s weight lifting, yoga, Pilates, and the reformer. Which was something new for me. If you give me a machine like that, you’re asking me to hurt myself. I did a lot of fight training with a wonderful stunt girl named Chloe Bruce. She is a champion martial artist and a little scary. I mean, when you first meet her, she’s great. And then you are like, OH. WHOA. You cannot bend your will that way.
I really wish you would have been there. Sif, I mean, Jaimie is super funny, and you cannot help but laugh at her while she is explaining all this. There is so much fun, but there is more. Hang tight; the good stuff is coming.
Q: Is there a side of your character we will see in Part Two that we didn’t see in the first movie?
Yes, actually. You will get to see a very vulnerable side of Sif. You also get to see what her fellow Asgardians mean to her. Now, in the first movie, we explored that a little bit. She’s very protective. Her first priority is to protect her fellow Asgardians and the throne. In this one, there is a little bit of heartache, but it’s really amazing because she’s very selfless. The heartache is definitely an underlying tone to her. She put it aside and said, “You know what? I have lives to save. I’m going to put that first,” so you get to see what she is made of a little.
Q: What did you like best about Sif?
I like that she’s selfless, and in a way, that’s one of her greatest strengths, but it’s also her downfall. She really puts everyone first and is not afraid to give her option. She does it respectfully, but she definitely stands up for what she believes in. I can appreciate that, and I try to adopt that in my own life as much as I can. Without scaring people. I don’t carry a weapon, not that anyone can see anyway.
See, I love it. She always gets so serious, but also lets her personality shine! She’s a very funny and amazing women! I don’t’ want to skip anything on this interview because I really enjoyed everything from start to finish, so much that I just sat back and listened to her talk. Oh, and yes, of course, I laughed all the damn time.
Q: I have a ten-year-old who loves you. Have you gotten a lot of feedback from younger girl fans that are following you?
Yeah, it’s great. I actually speak at schools about having a positive body image.
She goes on to explain how there are things about her that are not Hollywood standards and that she really likes them. She has tattoos, and if you follow my blog, you know I love my tattoos too! She also grew up with four brothers, was a high school wrestler, and talks about her cup.. She’s so beautiful in person too—such an amazing woman who’s real, and I appreciate real! So continues to say, “I like to embrace that side of my personality and let my uniqueness show.” She wants to tell young women to be proud of who they are and not to be afraid of who they are! “Work what your momma gave you and appreciate it, because everybody is different and nobody is a duplicate, so no one can actually be you, so you have that above everyone else. And I try to incorporate that in Lady Sif, where her costume is not revealing. Yet she is feminine, but she is also tough, so you really see her personality before you see her physically, and that’s most important.”
We all, of course, clapped because it’s amazing what she is doing. I really appreciate anyone who promotes healthy self-esteem to young girls. I have young girls. OH, but after she was done talking, she had to toss in her funny by saying. “Good things I got those memories before I got here.” She was only playing, but it was so much fun. She has so much personality and seems to be a jokester.
Q: For young girls looking to you as their superhero, is there anyone that you looked up to growing up?
There was a superhero named Wonder Woman that I definitely looked up to growing up, and she was actually Sigourney Weaver. She was always my favorite. She seemed to embody a sense of humor while being stoic and powerful, yet feminine. To me, she is the ideal woman. If I were a guy, I would probably be like, “Go out with me.”
Do you see what I mean! Haha, she’s great!
Q: What was your favorite part of the film?
There’s an opening battle sequence that I had a blast doing. I got to do a backflip off a house, which if anyone really knew me well, they would be like, Let’s not put her anywhere near a horse.” I did it, and it was a lot of fun. Several wires were involved. There’s a lot of humor in it. There is another part we did; you will have to wait and see it. It’s a corridor scene with Thor and Loki; it’s pretty funny.
Someone then asked if she did all her own stunts.
I do most of my own. There are some things that Sif does that are just completely impossible for any human being to do, and that’s where the CGI comes in, but it’s rare.
Q: How true to life is your action figure?
“Not very. I mean, come on now, I don’t carry a sword around! I’m just kidding. I wear two corsets in the movies and a padded chest, so I would say everything from the waist up is pretty inaccurate. But I think they even put a little mole on her, and that’s kind of cool.”
Q: So what would you like to see your character do next? If you had the opportunity to play her again,?
I think it would be fun to play two different characters. So I would love to see Lady Loki come into the picture.
Jamie was loads of fun to interview! I love that at the end of every question she had something funny to say; it kind of showed us a little of who she really is, I think.
So I already told you how amazing and beautiful she is, but man, she’s tall! I stood next to her in our group picture, and I’m pretty sure all you can see is in my head. She still towers over me. Now, I’m not tall, but I’m not short either!

It looks so good! I really wanna see this, too bad I live in the middle of nowhere and the nearest theater is like 2 hours away
Very cool, Jenn. I’m glad you got the opportunity. What a difference from Jaimie being Jaimie and then in character!
The stunts and her doing most of her own really stood out for me. Can’t imagine 😉
I know right, I would be too scared to do all that stuff… I’m a huge chicken.. She really was awesome, and I really apprecaite the fact that she was so real while we were there.
I have really got to see this movie. This was a great interview, thank you for sharing!! Can’t wait to read the next installment.
