Looking for a fun but fairly easy project you can do with the kids? Check out this popsicle stick puzzle.

My kids love crafts; I think it’s because they get to play with glue and all my crafting supplies, and that’s okay.  I remember playing with my mom’s stuff when I was younger I loved the glue when she wasn’t looking I could put it on my hands, let it dry and peel it off, lol.  She would get so mad at me for wasting her glue, especially when she was trying to show me how to make something like this kid popsicle stick puzzle.  She would be talking and showing me things while I was focused on how I was going to get the glue from the table to my hands.  Now that the shoe is on the other foot I realize my mom totally knew what I was doing, and  she let me do it anyhow, but only once during a crafting session.

The other day my youngest daughter and I decided to take a step backward in time and put down the tablets, phone, and everything else techy for some mom and daughter crafting time.  We got out the popsicle sticks, glue, pick a photo we liked out of a magazine and learned how to make kids popsicle stick puzzle!  We had a blast, and our puzzle turned out pretty cool so I wanted to share it with you.

Easy DIY Kids Puzzle Craft

How To Make a Kids Popsicle Stick Puzzle:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Photograph of your choice. I got mine out of a magazine, but normally my kids choose.
  • Glue

How To Make a Kids Popsicle Stick Puzzle:

  • Lay your photo with the front of the picture down on the table.

  • Put a small line of glue all the way down the popsicle stick and lay it on the back of the picture.  You’ll repeat this process until the back of the photo is covered.  Leave very little space between the sticks if you can get them to touch one another. That works. Best.

  • Allow it to dry. Then use scissors or a razor blade (only if children are not helping).  Cut or slice down in between each popsicle stick.  Once you’re finished, just make sure the photo is stuck to each stick well by pushing it around the popsicle stick and cutting off any corners that may cause it to rip.

  • Have fun!

My kids LOVE these; they love making them more than anything!  Okay, so maybe not more than anything but they have fun making them and if you and the kids would like you can always make the puzzle larger by using more sticks.  My oldest daughter even cut her popsicle sticks when she was younger because she wanted something that was a little challenging.

Do your kids enjoy crafts?  What are some of their favorite things to make around the house?

What a cute idea. I never would have to make a puzzle with popsicle sticks.
