Write A Letter To Santa & Make-A-Wish Come True!

Do your children believe in Santa?  You know I honestly kicked around the whole Santa idea for a long time.  Is it lying to your kids, because I don’t believe in lying to them.  Then I remembered, my parents never once lied to me.  I might not be a perfect mother, but I want my children to experience the magic of Christmas.  Part of that magic for me was SAnta, and it wasn’t the gifts he brought, it was learning the magic of Christmas – wishes do come true, if you believe.

I remember the magic that Santa had as a child, and when I was old enough and wanted to know, I asked and my parents told me.

Write A Letter To Santa & Make-A-Wish Come True!

Every year my kids write a letter to Santa.  They start out by saying Dear Santa, talk a little about all the good things they have done during the year, and ask him about his life.  It’s great, because by the time it’s all said and done, they put very little thought into what they actually want for Christmas because they are too excited about the whole idea of sending a letter to Santa.  It’s great; this year was Mattie’s very first year, and she was so excited to get her letter going.  She wanted to ask about the elf’s, the reighdeer, but most importantly how he was going to fit down our chimney.  See, we don’t have a huge fireplace, it’s a woodstove and she just doesn’t know how a big Santa will fit down that little pipe and she wants answers.

Vayda helped her write her letter, then sealed it, but this year rather than putting it in the mailbox we’re going to send it to Santa online.  I mean, email is much faster than snail mail, right.

There are so many reasons to write a letter to Santa, and I honestly don’t know if there is any certain way it should be done.  I always tell my kids to tell him what they want to say.  It doesn’t have to be gifts because he’s Santa and supposed to know what you want for Christmas.  My kids color pictures, and if they have a certain gift they want they might draw pictures.  After all the letters do help Santa avoid any mix-ups.

Most importantly, I tell my children they need to tell Santa thank you for making their past Christmas special because Santa does bring a little magic to Christmas even for me as an adult. Oh, and don’t forget to tell him about the awesome cookies you’re going to be baking special for him.  One year we made mini cherry pies, and man Santa loved them so much it’s become a tradition around our house.

Anyone can refer a child to Make-A-Wish as long as the child is between the ages of 2 ½ and 17 at the time of the referral.  They must have a life-threatening medical condition and cannot have had a wish before from Make-A-Wish or any other organization that grants wishes.

Make-A-Wish

Gosh, there are so many great organizations out there, but Make-A-Wish holds a special place in my heart, because of what they do.  What Make-A-Wish does is amazing!  They give a child a wish; these wishes often mark a turning point in a child’s recovery!  The child’s family is included in the wishing experience too.

Joysee Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area “Wish Kid”

Joysee is an amazing, brave young girl, only four years in age from San Mateo.  She is currently the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area “Wish Kid” and was diagnosed with leukemia.  She’s currently in remission, but not without several rounds of treatment that lead to missing out of some of her toddler years.  Joysee wished for a princess party, pink and purple decorations, a princess dress, cape, crown, cake, ice cream, and more.  She is so excited about this wish that she asks her mom about it daily.  Her party is a surprise, scheduled for January and the amazing people at Macy’s will be helping to prepare her wish with an extra special celebration at the San Francisco Union Square location.

You can help Make-A-Wish come true for children like Joysee and you’ll be helping Make-A-Wish come true!

Macy’s Believe Campaign & National Believe Day

This year will be the 7th year of the Macy’s Believe campaign!  This is an awesome campaign that incites believers of all ages to drop off letters to Santa at ANY Macy’s location!  You can place your letter in a designated Santa Mail letterbox, and if for some reason you cannot visit a Macy’s, you can alwasy submit your letter online at Macys.com/believe.  Mom and Dad you can write Santa too, because every letter is worth $1 donation to Make-A-Wish up to $1 MILLION, which will be used to grant wishes for children with life-threatening conditions.  If you haven’t dropped your letter yet be sure and do so before the 24th!  Plus, you’ll be a part of history because this year is the year to break the Guinness World Record for longest wish lists to Santa by submitting your letter to Macys.com/believe.

Did you know that Make-A-Wish Great Bay Area grants more than 300 wishes every single year to children who have battled a life-threatening illness!  How amazing is that?  Last year they granted wishes of more than 14,000 kids in the US, which means there was a wish granted every 38 minutes.  If that isn’t magical, I don’t know what is?

Don’t miss out, you have until December 24th .  You can visit your local Macy’s store or Macy’s Believe online and submit your kids letter to the one and only Santa.  Yes, this letter will help make dreams come true for the beautiful children with Make-A-Wish around the country!  See every letter you bring up until December 24th is worth $1 donation to Make-A-Wish up to $1,000,000!
