Things To Consider Before Remodeling a Bathroom

If you plan on remodeling a bathroom in advance, you can often score great deals and turn your outdated bathroom into something amazing.  Whether you’re looking for a full bathroom remodel or an affordable remodel here are a few things to consider before taking the plunge.

1.) What’s your budget?

Focus on a budget before starting your bathroom remodel.  It will help you have a good starting point and help you avoid overspending.  Not all of our minds think alike, but I always like to over budget.  Over budgeting helps give me a little room to wiggle, and if you’re lucky enough to do things for less than your budget it feels pretty good.  Regardless, it’s smart to determined how much money you’ll need before beginning your project.

2.) What’s your plan?

Be sure you have a plan of attack.  You’ll want to consider what order you’re going to do things, what products you’ll need, and make sure you have all your questions answered.  You’ll come up with questions, but the more confident you are about starting your project, the better off you are.  Plus, you’ll get things done faster and better if you have a plan.

3.) What do you know about the contractor?

If you’re planning on hiring a contractor, DO YOU RESEARCH!   Trust me on this, even if he is your husband’s friends, get recommendations from people on his work.  Considering how much it is going to cost you, it’s well worth the research.

4.) Can you do it yourself?

Naturally, doing things yourself can save you tons of money, but if it’s something you’re not comfortable doing, you might want to consider a professional.  It can save you money in the end.  There are plenty of things you can do yourself that will help you feel good about your bathrooms new look – painting, changing shower curtains, accessories, adding shelves, curtains, rugs, etc.

8.) Do you need to consider storage options?

If you’re like me then storage is important.  When I think about storage options, I dream about drawers and ways that I can easily and neatly store everything needed.  The last thing I want to worry about is things stacked up in the corner.  There are some great bathroom vanities with plenty of drawer space, like this one from ModernBath.com.
