We started out talking about Christmas centerpieces and decorations, which slowly turned into DIY Christmas decorations with the kids. Regardless, we had a blast, and everything turned out great. Most importantly, we created something beautiful and used a few of the Merry Maids cleaning tips to create these fun Christmas crafts. It doesn’t get better than that.

See all this stuff that ends up all over the floors? Oh, come on you know you hate it too because it never fails you’re consistently picking it up even after your tree is gone.
Yes it even ends up on chairs and everywhere else.
Pick that stuff up and put it in an empty decoation which you can get for about $1…
I got a few extra things to add, which I’m sure you can find similar things around your house… I had a long silver strand of beads, buttons, and there was decorations too… It turned out pretty cool, the kids had fun, and it was super affordable.
We did a few of them because I wanted each one of the kids to make one for their special 2014 Christmas decoration. It means more being handmade anyway.
I put everything that was small enough and Christmas colored in empty decoration and the kids did a great job too! Check them out:
They look awesome on the tree at night when it’s glowing. Love it.
This was Mattie’s homemade Christmas decoation.
This was supposed to have been my older daughter, but we did it because she’s too cool for us anymore… Gosh, I could live without my kids turning into drama teens, and my fingers are crossed.
DIY Christmas Centerpiece
This is the one I learned from the lovely people at Merry Maids that sparked my interest: the DIY Christmas centerpiece that looks beautiful and is super easy and affordable to make.
We all have a glass jar lying around, and if not, you can grab one from the dollar store for $1. Pick up all that nasty tensile and place it into the jar with any decorations or other things you find lying around. The centerpiece is nice because you can fit everything, lol.
Place everything inside the glass jar.
Turns out pretty cool don’t you think?

I normally purchase a decoration every year, so we have something on the tree for that year that I can give to the kids when they get older. We made each one of the kids their own decoration and used paint to write their name and year. It’s not only a great way to save money, but they will love it so much more when they’re older and have their own Christmas tree! Haha, then their kids will tell them how old they are, lol.
