6 Tips For A Happier Holiday Away From Home

If you’re spending the holiday away from home, there are plenty of ways to be sure you and your family enjoy your holiday away from home.  Here are a few tips to help you have a happy holiday season while you’re away from home:

  • Be flexible. Of course, you’ll have certain things you’re going to want to get done, places to visit, and people to see, but aside from your commitments, try to stay flexible.
  • Gift of travel: Make your vacation a gift to the family by doing something special together.  If you’re traveling by plane, be sure to consider the fact that TSA might need to unwrap any gifts that are wrapped.  The TSA recommends carrying any donations in a carry-on and leaving them unwrapped.
  • New family traditions: Since you’re away from home, now is the time to create a new family tradition.  Being away from home makes it hard to recreate traditions you typically do from home, be creative, have fun, get ideas from the kids, and create some new family traditions.
  • Involve everyone & enjoy your time away. Before heading out on your holiday vacation, be sure and involve everyone in the planning process.  Explain to the kids what you will be doing, who you will be visiting, etc.  It will make things more fun if everyone feels like they’re involved.  If you’re traveling to spend the holiday season with family and friends, be sure and enjoy your time with them.  Don’t let spending the holidays away from home consume you.  Focus on what makes the holidays special—family, friends, giving, traveling, health, or potatoes soup family and friends.
  • Focus on what the holiday is about. Focus on the actual meaning of Christmas.  There is so much more to Christmas than the decorations and gifts.  It’s also a good time to teach your children the real meaning of Christmas.  Traveling during the holidays can be a true blessing if you focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
  • Stay somewhere comfortable. Most importantly, you’ll want to stay somewhere comfortable and friendly.  Even though you might not spend a lot of time at the hotel, you’re going to want to stay somewhere comfortable, where they treat their guests with care, like Country Inns & Suites by Carlson.

Have you stayed with the Country Inns & Suites before?  I’ve stayed there a few times this past year and always been 100% happy with my stay.  I know many of you who are getting ready for holiday travel might be looking for a few great holiday hotel deals; well, be sure to swing by and check out Country Inns & Suites.  They not only have a great hotel for you to stay at while you’re away this holiday season, but they’re super cute. They provide their customers with that hospitality with a touch of home that is so important, especially while you’re away for the holidays.

Oh, and they have an AWESOME Sweeps!

My family, but I do wish they would bottle kid’s energy.  I would buy it so I could get everything done.

There are so many things that make me happier this holiday season I don’t know that I could break it down to only one thing because my family, dogs, bunny, parents, friends, house, being able to travel, and everything else I’m blessed to have in my life makes my season happier than ever before.

Thank you, Country Inns & Suites, for sponsoring this post and allowing me to share my opinion with my readers!
