Have you ever made a DIY aromatherapy rice sock? If not, you are in for a treat; they are great for your neck, shoulders, and, well, you can use them just about anywhere on your body. Plus, they are easy peasy to make.
I remember my mom used to always give me a sock filled with rice to ease my neck, shoulder, leg, or just about any pain, but adding scent makes it even better. It’s amazing how quickly scents can take you to another place or make you remember something special; it’s almost like time traveling back to a special place. Plus, making your own DIY aromatherapy rice sock neck and shoulder pillow is cheap, super easy, and really a lot of fun. Oh, and you will be thankful you did the next time something hurts.
This review and awesome DIY Aromatherapy Rice Sock Neck and Shoulder Pillow post were made possible by Double Duty Divas and Dawn. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.
I was thinking about how powerful scents are; they can take us back to a certain place or time in our lives much like a photograph can. Every now and then I will be walking through the store and get a whiff of a certain manly scent, and suddenly I am taken back to first meeting my husband, or driving in the car with my little brother, watching him act crazy and bobbing his head to some 2Pac, or remembering my dad get all dressed up to take my mom out dancing.
Then there is a scent like coffee brewing or this delicious Snickers iced coffee in the early morning with a hint of vanilla that makes me remember my mom sitting at the table before any of us kids are up, enjoying the morning sun coming through the window. She still looks so beautiful sitting there; it’s something she has done for as long as I can remember, and every time I smell that scent, I remember it.
Oh, or apple pie with a hint of cinnamon takes me back to Grandma’s kitchen. Nobody will ever be able to make an apple pie like my granny could.

When I opened the bottle of Dawn Destinations – New Zealand Spring, naturally I squeezed it lightly to smell it and closed my eyes to see what destination I could visit. I picture myself in a pool of fresh clear-blue water, with a bountiful waterfall, lush green grass surrounding the area, and trees with green leaves, drops of dew rolling off. It was relaxing and calming, but then I remembered all the dishes I needed to do. Oh, what the heck, I squeezed the bottle again and decided to do the dishes later. HAHA, no, I didn’t. I poured some of the Dawn Destinations – New Zealand Spring and enjoyed my happy place while doing the dishes. It sure did make things go by faster and was a lot more fun.
It is amazing the places one can visit with the right scent and imagination to take you there. Now, imagine visiting this place while doing dishes. YUP, it’s my happy place that I visit while doing dishes, but my daughter doesn’t agree with me. She pictures something completely different. She thinks of a warm spa experience.
Being a busy parent sometimes means taking a vacation while you are doing the dishes or getting lost in the scent of Dawn Destinations – New Zealand Spring. I can honestly say this is the first time I have imagined myself anywhere but in front of the sink while doing dishes. Maybe I have not allowed my imagination the chance, or maybe I have not had that scent to take me there. Either way, it’s nice to know I can close my eyes with a sink full of Dawn Destination Suds and dishes and forget where I am for a split second.

How To:
- Fill the tube sock with the uncooked rice
