We already know Clorox® Regular Bleach works fabulously on laundry, but did you know there are so many other things one can use Clorox Bleach for? Clorox® Bleach is my go-to product for everything from keeping whites whiter to the unexpected messes that life sends our way. However, it did take me a little while to figure out that one can use Clorox Bleach for so much more than clothing. Gosh, life would have been much easier had I listened to my mother. Of course, she has all sorts of life hacks, and to this day, she doesn’t go without a bottle of Clorox Bleach in her home because she uses it for so many different things.
Looking back, I totally understand why. See, my brother used to bring his dirt bike inside to work on it, lol. He would wait for Mom to head to the bathroom and bring the bike in the back door, through the kitchen, living room, and finally into his bedroom. It never took my mom long to figure out he had a dirt bike in the house. Maybe it was her mom’s ability that helped her sense it, or maybe it was the trail of dirt leading to his room. I’m honestly not sure, but I know she used her Clorox Bleach & Water mixture to mop the floors. She always told me she used it because it was the one product she trusted to kill those nasty germs.
Then there was my younger, animal-loving self. Growing up, I had ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, goats, a horse, a pig named Garth, and even a deer at one point. It was pure craziness, and every single one of those animals came into the house and my room, lol. Well, the horse only made it to the living room before my mom busted me. I still remember her face—she didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, beat me, or do all of the above. I raised my pig as an itty-bitty baby, so you know he came inside all the time without my mom knowing right away. The others, at some point got to see the inside of the house, too.
With age comes wisdom. I never understood why my mom didn’t kill us for our stunts, but now that I’m a mother, I know. Children and husbands can teach us to cherish the messes that lifepoint sends out, especially since we have Clorox® Regular-Bleach to make clean-up easy and germ-free. In the end, messes give us memories to look back on and giggle.
I wish I would have just listened to my mom and not been so stubborn, but I had to learn things on my own. First, my husband: OMG! Why in the world do so many mechanics wear white shirts? Thankfully, it didn’t take long for me to figure it out—use Clorox bleach to keep those whites white!
I didn’t know what mess was until I had children. How can something so darn cute make such a huge mess? I just don’t know, but they do. But it was my daughter’s yucky mess that made me stop and see messes for what they were—memories in the making. My daughter was in her crib, and she was supposed to be taking a nap. But she wasn’t—she was playing and making the biggest mess I have ever had to clean up.
I had to take my daughter to the bathtub and clean her up before I could face the mess. I’m not going to go into the details, but I can tell you I didn’t think twice. I grabbed Clorox® Regular-Bleach and ½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of water because I wanted to use something I knew would take care of business and get rid of the germs. I didn’t enjoy cleaning up the mess, but it wasn’t that bad, and it was at that moment that I remembered all the things we had done to my poor mom. We gave her great memories! Anytime she shares these crazy messes, she smiles and laughs, and you can tell for that very moment that we are young and living at home with her again. That’s what it’s all about, so don’t let those messes stress you out.
Giggle at life’s messes because Clorox not only helps you get whites whiter and clean up easier, but it gets rid of 99.9% of those nasty germs left behind. Life is about appreciating what we have. Don’t stress the bleachable moments; think of the story you’ll have to share and the memories that are yours forever. I’m sure many of you have heard stories about yourself when you were young, and the messes are funny now! So my suggestion is to celebrate the mess!!
If you’re just starting out—a new marriage, new home, or beautiful babies — here are a few tips to get you started. I hope they make your life a little easier, less stressful, and, most importantly, help you celebrate life’s messes.

- It’s also important to sanitize your plastic cutting boards. This can be done with Clorox® Regular Bleach, dishwashing detergent, and a gallon bucket. Fill the gallon bucket with water, add two teaspoons of Clorox® Regular-Bleach, wash and rinse your cutting board, and then place the board into the Clorox® Regular-Bleach and water mixture. Allow to sit for 2 to 5 minutes, remove, and air dry.
- Keep flowers fresher longer by adding ¼ teaspoon of Clorox bleach per quart of vase water. It will help your water stay clear and free of anything yucky.
- Keep your drains from smelling bad by flushing with water, pouring ¾ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach into the drain, and then flushing with hot water.
- Sanitize your sponges and dish towels with Clorox® Regular-Bleach. In your kitchen sink, use ½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach for every gallon of water. Soak for 5 minutes, rinse, and allow to dry.
- Clean your refrigerator to get any leftover smells out. First you’ll wash your fridge like normal. Then use ½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of water, and wipe the surface using the bleach/water solution. Allow to sit for 5 minutes, rinse and air dry!
- We already know that kids and germs just go together, which is why we have to keep everything clean, even the toys. You should scrub toys weekly if possible, and if not, then every other week. To sanitize toys, use ½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of water. Allow toys to soak for 5 minutes, rinse, and air dry.
- You can also clean potty chairs by mixing ½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach per gallon of water used. Then you’ll empty the seat and fill it with your water/bleach solution, allow it to stand for 5 minutes, rinse, drain, and allow it to air dry.
