WOW, being a mom is hard work, or any parent for that matter. There are moms and dads who are together, moms raising children alone, dads raising children alone, and so many other types of parents out there, it’s hard to say my job is harder than yours because I am a mom.
In my opinion, being a parent is hard, but it’s NOT the world’s toughest job because:
- There are no days off, unless of course you totally luck out and someone you trust enough to watch your babies is able.
- 24 hours a day. There are no questions asked, it does not matter day or night; we are going to be there if they need us. Even at 16 years old, if my daughter wants to talk at 4am, I will grab a STRONG cup of coffee, and sit down.
- Standing up, man there are some times I do not get to sit down because I am doing laundry, making lunch, helping with something, or another, cleaning, cooking dinner, and who knows what else, and it’s okay. As parents, this is what we do.
- No breaks, unless of course your little ones allow it.
- What life? Oh, that thing I had before I had children, that’s what that is called again. Hey, but again. Seriously, and have not missed it once single day.
- I clean all the time, to turn around and do it again. Oh, and again too.
- No, none of that is hard. I do not know what I would do without all this.. I don’t. My oldest is almost 16, which means in 2 short years she will be moving out. You know what, I don’t know how I am going to handle it. When I think about it now, I want to cry like a baby.
It’s funny, I don’t think of being a parent hard work. Not because of all the things we do anyway. I think there is a little more to it. Now would I work somewhere as a mom, without pay, for someone who is not my kids? NOPE, there is no way. When it is my kids I am caring for it isn’t work, but if I was to do all this for someone else, it most definitely would be work. You have to check out the Worlds Toughest Job Video to see what I mean.
So, if you ask me if being a parent is hard work. I will admit, yes it is, but only because watching my babies grow up is hard. The work part is me learning how to someone deal with the fact that my children are going to grow up.
Catie is fixing to be 16 years old, and it hit me like a tons of rocks. I only have two more years before she can move out. Now, for me personally, learning how to deal with my kids growing up is hard work. I know, I have two whole years, but if they go by as fast as the last two I am in deep trouble. Things will work out, I am still in shock.. Anyway, you have to check out this video. It’s GREAT!.
Worlds Toughest Job Video
Some of you might have already caught this viral World’s Toughest Job video that is floating around online. Its a great video; I love the video! If you have not seen, take a moment and watch it. I cry in the end every single time, and I did call my mom and thanks her for everything.
I think we all need to stop, give ourselves a pat on the back, and say thank you to your mom. Any mom out there give them a high-five, and if they think you are crazy? Tell them to watch The Worlds Toughest Mom video on YouTube! When I meet my husband he was mom and dad, so I try not to forget all those dads out there who are filling in for mom too! High-Five and Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!
In the video, Cardstore created a company called Rethom, Inc. Do you know what that spells backward? Mother, and based on everything moms do titled it ‘Director of Operations’. They then placed the job across 27 markets through job postings, 2 Google sponsored ad unites, 14 market newspaper classified ads, and it ended up with 2.7MM impressions! That’s huge, the job description was everything a mom does, but they did not let anyone know the job was actually a mom. By the time everything was said and done, Cardstore only had 24 inquires, thereby proving that being a mom is the world’s toughest, but most rewarding job around.
If you noticed something they missed in the video, be sure to visit Cardstore.com and discuss what you feel they left out.
