Ever wonder which berries are best for your health and which berries you should be eating more of? Berries are a superfood that has a long list of health benefits. I try to keep berries in our home, especially because I’m dieting, and they are an excellent way to kill my sweet tooth without breaking any rules.
Berries not only include high levels of antioxidants, but it’s also said these super berries can reduce your risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease and even keep your skin and brain healthy. But which berries do what? According to an article on Health.com, berries such as blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, acai berries, and cranberries are healthy for women’s hearts.
Seven Berries and Their Health Benefits
- Acai Berries: Acai Berries can help boost your immunity, be good for your heart, and possibly even reduce your risk of neurological diseases. Acai Berry is an awesome source of fiber, heart-healthy fats, and antioxidants. My favorite way to enjoy Acai Berries is in a smoothie, yogurt, or even tossing them in my no-bake oatmeal balls.
- Goji berries have vitamin C, amino acids, beta-carotene, and B vitamins. They are said to reduce your risk of macular degeneration and help protect your eyesight.
- Blueberries: Blueberries are one of my favorites! They contain vitamin K, fiber, and manganese. Blueberries can help reduce the risk of cataracts, glaucoma, and heart disease; they can contribute to slowing the aging process and reducing your likelihood of cancer.
- Blackberries: Blackberries are not only high in antioxidants but also contain fiber, vitamin K, vitamin C, manganese, and folic acid. They can assist you if you are trying to drop unwanted pounds, as well as reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, cataracts, and memory loss due to age, help maintain healthy hair, and even help your mood. These little berries are loaded with benefits.
- Raspberries are also more than 80% water, contain fiber, and can be helpful if you are trying to lose weight. Like blackberries, they can help lower cholesterol, memory loss, cataracts, and more.
- Strawberries are healthy for the heart, loaded with good old Vitamin C, and said to help your heart.
- Cranberries are yet another one of my favorites all year around. They are loaded with flavor, help fight infection, and are loaded with proanthocyanidins that help with urinary tract infections.
