If you follow my blog you already know how much I love traveling, and technology! It’s no surprise I am so excited to be part of the Intel Tablet Crew, and share my opinion on devices, traveling, and making life easier. In my opinion, it’s time we trade in our laptops and travel with a tablet.
Here recently I have traveled a ton. From my amazing Disney Cruise, and family vacations to another trip to South Carolina next week I am always on the go, and love that I can stay connected while I travel with a tablet, and not carrying around my larger, heavier, bulkier laptop when I travel.
6 Reasons To Leave The Laptop Home & Travel With A Tablet
If you are always looking for an easier way to travel, here are a few reasons to leave your laptop at home and travel with a tablet.
Entertainment
I have four kids, and we always travel in the car because of my son’s wheelchair, and it’s easier on him than jumping on a plane. I cannot tell you how much having a tablet for the kids to watch movies helps. Whether we load up their TV shoes, and favorite movies or let them stream some Netflix it helps make their trip less boring and stressful.
Whether it’s me or the kids, on the long road trips playing fun and educational apps helps pass the time, and makes the road trip a little more comfortable too! My oldest daughter loves to read while we drive.. She typically will use her Kindle to catch on up al her favorite reads. Having a tablet for long road trips, layovers, flights, or hotel stays can help when it comes to keeping the kids or yourself entertained.
Photography
I love the built-in camera, and that we can download some of the best photo apps. It makes putting together awesome little videos, or stories easy, thanks to all the awesome video and photography apps.
Access
I can easily access everything I need on the road, and even while we are driving down the road. Of course, my husband typically drives. Anyway, my tablet allows me to work easily, and conveniently. The touchscreen and keyboard combo makes things super easy. With the touch of the screen, I can open an app, type in what I need, and BAM done! Oh, and don’t forget voice, which is another awesome feature. When we are looking for somewhere I eat I can just ask.
Having the tablet makes it easy to jump online using Google Hotel Finder, Bing Travel, Hotels.com, Trip Advisor, HotWire, and other great iOS, Android, or Windows travel apps. It’s much easier to look at prices, and hotels from a tablet than it is to pull out the laptop, or use your smartphone.
Whether it’s snapping photos, working on a blog post, or finding a hotel my tablet helps me easily access everything I need.
It’s portable
My laptop is average size, but it doesn’t compare to my Nokia Lumia 2520 in terms of portability. My tablet is smaller, thinner, and lighter. Carrying it around, using it to work in the car, and even packing it in my carry on when I fly is easier than my laptop.
Oh, and since we are talking about carry-on luggage! I love that I don’t have to take my tablet out of my carry-on luggage when I am getting ready to catch a flight. AWESOME!
Battery Life
Laptop batteries are improving, but I am yet to see one last longer than my tablets. I have plenty of tablets to compare too – iPad Mini, Kindle HD, Nokia Lumia 2520, Google Nexus, and Intel Tablets without a doubt my tablets hold up longer than my laptops.
Flexibility
When it is all said and done, everything boils down to flexibility. I typically take my laptop and tablet when I travel, but I don’t use my laptop until I am settled in my room. I might use it to type a blog post or something, but my tablet is what goes everywhere with me, because it’s flexible enough for me to use for anything I need while I am traveling.
Like I mentioned, I take both my tablet and my laptop when I travel, but our last trip made me realize I don’t need to take my laptop. I typically need to work a little while I am on the road, but it’s nothing that cannot be done from my tablet, especially with the right accessories. Plus, if I need anything from my laptop I can use my laptop or PC with my tablet and remote desktop app, which makes things even easier than before.
I use my tablet for everything from playing movies to snapping pictures while we are on vacation. I love how easy it is to stay connected, get work done, and I cannot wait to try an Intel Tablets .
