Do you feel short on energy in the mornings? Good news there are things you can do to have more energy in the mornings. The longer it takes you to drag yourself out of bed the more painful waking up and getting ready for your day is. I’m sure we have all spent 20 minutes hitting the snooze button only to wake up feeling groggy, cranky, and in a bad mood because we have to wake up.
After I left my job at the bank, my life changed, and I had to try different techniques to help me start my mornings out right. I was tired of feeling tired and starting my day out rushing, and after trial and error, I have found morning wins that help that help me wake up in a better mood have more energy in the morning. Here are a few things that have helped me have more energy in the morning.
11 Things You Can Do To Have More Energy In The Morning
- A good night’s rest – Sleeping is something I’ve always had a problem with, especially now that I work from home. I have to make myself stick to my bedtime because I know it’s essential to having energy in the morning. If you have issues getting to bed at a decent hour try turning off all electronic devices (leave the tablets and phones out of bed), make sure the room is dark, and you can even place your hand above the bridge of your nose and between your eyes and massage it for a few minutes. I don’t remember which show I heard about this on, but there is supposed to be a pressure point there that is known to help you relax and induce sleep. You can also try eating a smaller and healthier dinner. Eating large quantities before bed can make it more comfortable to sleep, which means less weird dreams to keep you up as well as tossing and turning
- Stick to a sleep schedule – Having a regular sleep schedule will help you wake up feeling better and can even help promote weight loss.
- Stop it, don’t touch that button – Don’t hit the snooze button! Get out of that habit it doesn’t help you wake up and feel more energized in the mornings. Falling back asleep for only a few minutes makes it hard to get up and get moving. Plus, then you risk having to rush, which is an easy way to start your day off on the wrong foot.
- Let the light shine in – When you get out of bed open the curtains and allow the natural light to shine into your home.
- Wake up early – Rather than waking up with just enough time to spare wake up a little early. Rushing in the mornings can be an easy way to start your day off on the wrong foot. Try taking 10 minutes to think about the things you’re thankful for and reasons you’re looking forward to the day.
- Give yourself reasons – There is so much more to life than work and our daily responsibilities, it’s important to remind yourself of that. Try meeting a friend for lunch, or planning a romantic date with your spouse. Plan something from time to time that makes you look forward to the day.
- Save yourself time – Save yourself time in the mornings by getting clothing prepared the night before. I also like to take warm showers at night to help make me sleepy, but my husband enjoys morning showers to wake him up. Find what works best for you and do it daily to help you feel better.
- Get your blood flowing – Rather than dragging yourself into the living room to listen to the morning news, get up and go for a nice walk. Get some fresh air and gets your blood flowing. Even if you’re not able to be outside in the morning, some light yoga will help. It’s a great way to get your metabolism moving and help keep you energized all day long.
- Focus on your small morning wins – Focus on your small morning wins, like getting the kids dressed without the house blowing up or the eating breakfast.
