When I was a little girl, I didn’t play with dolls or care too much about hair and makeup. I was too busy doing other things that I enjoyed. Whether it was riding my horse, climbing a tree, or playing in the dirt, I enjoyed my childhood. I was told from a very young age I could do whatever I wanted to do and be whatever I wanted to be.
With three girls, raising them to be strong and independent is important, but I also want them to understand they can do whatever they want to do. If she enjoys racing and wearing pink, then so be it. Without a doubt, we will be her biggest fans and support her 100% of the time, as long as she is willing to work to keep her go-cart running. That’s our rule; we’re there to support you 100% if you’re willing to put the work in.
I love having girls, because my girls will rock a pink dress with the best of them, but the second you turn around, they’re climbing a tree, jumping in the mud, helping me load a horse trailer with hay, and my youngest daughter has always loved to build things.

You can watch her; she likes to figure out how things fit together and try to come up with new ways to make things work. Mattie has been outside with her dad since she was itty-bitty and always saw things a little different. Complicated things are a little more simple and to the point if that makes sense. When I look at something and make it complicated, she is the first one to say, “Hey, just do this.”. It blows my mind, but it’s how her brain functions. This summer we bought her a go-cart because she wanted to race it at the tack, and I admit I was surprised, but she helped dad 75% of the time, which is great for as young as she is. Paying attention to anything that long is awesome.

I had the opportunity to learn more about Goldie Blox, and once we received our package, I couldn’t wait to see what Mattie and Vayda thought. I truly enjoyed learning the story behind Goldie Blox. The team from Goldie Blox is super pumped and has a great plan for the future. There was a lot of research, interviews, articles, and even playtime put into making creating Goldie Blox.
She is awesome; she’s a problem solver, and if you pay attention, she can help you build some pretty awesome things. I don’t know who was more excited about reading one of the books, me or the girls, lol.
Not only is she an amazing problem solver, she has a way of getting children to help her and bringing the story to life by having your child stop and help her build something. They have to be careful and pay close attention to the blueprints Goldie Blox drew for them. Mattie enjoyed the book from the beginning, but this is where she fell in love with Goldie Blox because she got to stop and help her build something. She wouldn’t let me help her either. Seriously, I love my daughter, but I don’t like playing with her. I don’t know how Vayda does it.
Anyway, the book was a blast, and I wanted to read the other one, but Matte wanted to wait for her dad. While she was waiting for her dad to get home, she flipped to the back pages of the book we just read and started trying to build some of the designs on the back of the book, and she asked me what it said on the top of the page. So I told her it says, Check out Goldie’s new design ideas. Go ahead and try them. Find more and share yours at goldieblox.com.” It took her a minute, and then out of the blue she asked me if she could build something by herself and send it to Goldie Blox. Oh, man, this made her wheels start spinning; she even got up to get a drink of water.
When she got back, I was talking to her about the other book and telling her how much fun she will have with her dad, and she tells me that her dad is going to have to build his own racecar. She is going to build her own castle, and she starts telling me how many rooms it’s going to have, there will be the horse in the front yard, and just going on and on! Goldie Blox products are awesome; we love them and think you’re little inventors will too.
