If you are looking for a way to create some awesome custom t-shirts in the comfort of your own home, you may want to take a seat you can do it!

With summer almost over and the kids gearing up to head back to school, what sounds like more fun than creating memories and t-shirts with an awesome and easy DIY custom t-shirts at home project? I know right, I can’t begin to tell you how excited my kids were to choose their favorite design so I could quickly and easily create a simple and fun custom t-shirt for them.

Easy DIY Custom T-Shirts At Home

I recently made my youngest daughter her very own personalized t-shirt!  The best part is that I can now create custom t-shirts at home for just about any occasion!  I know, is that amazing or what?  No more paying someone to personalize t-shirts for the kids, baseball team, family reunions, just for fun or any other reason you find yourself paying someone to personalize a t-shirt for you.  Finally, you can save time and money creating your very own in the comfort of your own home.

DIY Personalized T-Shirts At Home

To make your own DIY custom t-shirts at home, you’ll need the following items:

Create your custom t-shirt with the following directions:

Create your custom t-shirt with the following directions:

  1. Print image of your choice on the transfer paper using your printer.heat transfer paper

  2. Cut and remove as much of the border on the image as you can.

  3. Set the iron to wool/cotton or heat press to 185 degrees and press the fabric with your iron or press to make sure you get all the wrinkles out.

  4. Lay your image on the fabric.  The printed side will lay on the fabric.

  5. Iron the images using a slow circular motion.  Gradually apply more and more pressure as the paper begins to warm up.  Be sure to increase the press when you iron the edges of the transfer paper.  You will iron for about four minutes if you use one 8.5”x11” image.  If using a heat press, you will press for about 15 to 25 seconds.

  6. While the transfer paper is still hot, peel off the back of the paper from your fabric if you used an iron.  If you used a heat press, just peel off the back of the transfer paper from your fabric.

  7. Allow the image to set on the fabric for at least 24 hours before washing.  When washing, you’ll want to make sure to turn the fabric inside out, wash in cold water, and dry at normal heat settings.  Be sure not to bleach, use fabric softener, or use other harsh detergents.  Oh, and don’t iron over the image!

You can currently get Premium T-shirt Iron-on Transfer Paper for both dark-colored fabric and light-colored fabric for a totally reasonable price, and you don’t have to wait for someone else to make and ship you a custom shirt!  Talk about saving time and money!

My tween daughter loves the idea of being able to create her own custom t-shirt at home, and it’s unleashed a load of creativity I don’t even think she realized she had.  She comes to me just about every day with a new idea, either for a t-shirt or another DIY idea she thought up, and I have to admit, she has blown my mind with the amount of creativity she has trapped in her head just waiting to come out.  It’s truly amazing how something like creating your own t-shirt with transfer paper can open doors nobody knew were there for a child.

I love doing those, my granddaughter loves to color and I have scanned a couple of her coloring book finished projects and made some very proud to wear grandma tshirts for me and she picks out her favorite pics and we do the same.
