Thanks to Disney, I was able to go on this amazing adventure. They paid for my trip there and back, and HUGS to Marshall for the invite! All opinions are my own. I think Vince Vaughn is amazing, and I cannot wait to take my entire family to watch Delivery Man.
If you didn’t already know, Delivery Man will be in theaters on November 22, 2013. I cannot wait to take my family to see it. It’s such a good movie; to be honest, it’s nothing like I thought it would be, and after interviewing Vince Vaughn and seeing how much this film means to him,. Meeting Vince Vaughn was amazing. He’s so handsome, very nice, and tall. I really had no idea he would be so tall. I noticed how tall he was the moment he walked into the room. He was also very excited to sit down and talk to us about his role in Delivery Man and his experience working with Chris Pratt and Cobie Smulders. We also talked a bit about his role as a father.
8 Interesting Things About Vince Vaughn!
Someone asked why he took the role. Vince responded, letting us know that he felt that the director is passionate and what he is doing with the Delivery Man story is unique and inspiring. It’s about parenthood, life, acceptance, and accepting yourself. Talking about the director and his skill set, Vince says, “You’re not quite sure what emotion’s going to come next.” I couldn’t agree more, Disney. That was one of my favorite parts of Delivery Man. There were so many emotions; it was about life and things people deal with daily… Minus the 533 kids, of course.
I loved how he felt about his role in Delivery Man. He really took things down to a personal level and used his experiences in life to really make the film what it is. When you watch it, you will see, but there’s a handicap boy in the film, and when we were talking about the movie, he got into a little detail about how he thought the character felt, and being someone who once just stepped in and had to play the role of mom to a handicap boy, some of the things he explained I remember feeling.
In the film, Vince plays a father to 533 kids; one of these children is a handicap child, and he explained how he thought the character would feel in such a position. Being a stepmother to a handicapped child is a feeling I can very much relate to, and when Vince began explaining how he thought the character might feel in that situation,. I think that’s why Delivery Man is so awesome; it’s something so many of us can relate to.
It’s not that he doesn’t love the kid. He doesn’t’ know his value in that situation. When he first wants to leave, it’s actually because he’s intimidated. He doesn’t have the self-confidence to say how I express affection or warmth. It’s really that bridge of figuring out what’s my way of sharing these experiences with somebody.
I really remember feeling that with my stepson. I have never been around anyone handicapped, and I was scared. It wasn’t him; it was me. I needed a little guidance, and once I got that, I was okay.
2) Someone also asked Vince if being a parent helped with his role. Did you know his second child was conceived during Delivery Man? He explained to us how his role as a parent did help with the movie and that it became a journey of figuring out what’s the best way to give them skill sets to be successful, and you think about the best things you can do as a parent for your children.
I think it was very easy to draw on those kinds of emotions that were running through me anyway.
3) Some also asked if he was actively trying to make more family-friendly movies, something that your family could see in the future.
He really didn’t say a whole lot, but he did tell us that it was exciting to return to a more grounded performance.
You know, I don’t know if I would say I’m actively doing it. I think, um, this was nice, ’cause it was kind of a return to doing more grounded performances, which I used to do, and not so broad. So, that was exciting. And I do think the time in my life kind of particularly made me excited about investigating parenthood.
Partnership, I think, is important, too. You know, I think the best thing you can do as a father for your kid is to love the mom, because it shows him what a good relationship should be.
I find relationships to be really about communicating and expectations, you know. What do you expect the other person to do, and how do you communicate so that you’re both understanding what those expectations are? ‘Once you start breaking expectations and if you’re not understanding what the other person wants, trust can get broken.
4)Because There wasn’t a certain part of the movie he liked more than the other. He explained that he really enjoyed the movie as a whole and told us that the kids were terrific, and there were different unique experiences with the kids that were great. Of course, he also says he always enjoys working with Chris and told us that he’s so funny. He did tell us that he couldn’t choose only one part of the film that he enjoyed more than the others because they were unique. He enjoyed the variety of things, and nothing felt the same every day.
5) Vince hated working with Chris and Cobie. No, I’m totally kidding. He did say that, but he was totally kidding. He very much enjoyed working with all of them and liked that he, Chris, and Cobie were at similar stages in their lives. They were able to share experiences about being parents.
I hate those guys.” Yes, he was only kidding; he said he liked them, and it was great because both Cobie and Chris are new parents. He also says that Chris is a sweet man and sincere. He’s a nice man, and he loves his wife. She also tells us that Cobie and her husband are very nice. “It was fun to be making a movie with people who are at a similar stage to me.
6) Out of the 533 children, Vince did not have a favorite. He really enjoyed working with all of them and found them to be inspiring.
I found the enthusiasm that they had and their commitment to do a good job inspiring.
He’s handsome, sweet, tall, and super funny! We spent some time joking back and forth about what it would be like to really have 533 kids and what he would ask for from his kids for Father’s Day.
8) We also asked Vince if he had a point where he was caught up in the emotion of everything and forgot that he was acting. I really liked his response; it shows how much he really puts himself into a movie. It is in everything. He told us that’s what it’s all about: being truthful.
You just try to be truthful; I do. I try to just get to a point where you’re just really honestly feeling whatever you’re feeling in the scene. I mean, I’m not as big, having been big on accents and that kind of stuff, although I’ve done them. I really like to get to a point where I’m really trying to be honest and allowing myself to feel what I feel in the scene. And sometimes I’m surprised by it.
But a lot of it is your preparation, and you do stuff beforehand, and then you try to forget all of that, and when you get into the environment, you just try to commit to the circumstances. But I never go in thinking, Oh, I’m going to get sad in this scene.
Yeah, I just sort of got into the circumstances. And, again, my job was easy, ’cause I thought the circumstances were really kind of moving.
I liked Vince Vaughn before the interview, but after the interview, he’s now one of my favorite actors. He really said it how it is, what he feels, and how he says it. He was open about everything, and he was just so amazing! My husband has always told me how much he liked Vince Vaughn as an actor because he always thought he was just “real.”. I found that to be true; you get what you get with Vince Vaughn, and it’s the whole package because he rocks. He puts himself wholeheartedly into his films, and that’s why he’s such an amazing actor!
