There is nothing worse than your kids being sick. I always feel so sorry for them during the cough and cold seasons. There isn’t a parent out there who hasn’t had a child with a sore throat and cough at some point in their childhood, and it’s natural for us to want to help them feel better.
When your child starts to feel bad, in my experience it’s often followed by a runny nose, coughing, and a sore throat. As things progress, your child may begin getting other symptoms like fever, headache, watery mucus in their nose, tiredness, cough, sore throat, and stuffed up since a cold virus can affect your child’s ears, sinuses, bronchial tubes, and throat. A cough and sore throat seem to be the worst part of it all for my kids. I don’t blame them; I think I feel the same way, sore throats hurt and coughs seem to linger longer than everything else.
A Sore Throat and Cough, What Parents Should Know
Prevention
While we would all love to prevent our children from catching a cold, it’s easier said than done. Kids are kids; they touch everything, hug everyone, share everything, and forget to wash their hands. Since germs live on just about everything—doors, railings, books, pencils, controllers, chairs, desks, etc.—it’s hard to prevent kids from catching a cold.
Get enough rest
Yes, rest is an important part of not only preventing but also healing. When your child is healthy, it’s easier for their body to fight off an infection. Rest is extremely important.
Fluids
Unfortunately, getting sick happens to all of us. If your little one does catch a cold, be sure they are getting enough fluids.
Humidifier
Where I live, winters are SUPER dry, and the cold air doesn’t help the nasal passage, which often leads to a sore throat and cough. I’ve found that keeping a humidifier in the kid’s room helps.
Eat right
It’s important for all of us to eat right to help keep our bodies healthy. When our body is healthy, it can fight off infections better. There are foods that are supposed to help boost the immune function—garlic, yogurt, foods with vitamin C, and plenty more.
Could it be allergies?
Remember, sore throats and coughs can often be associated with allergies. My oldest daughter has allergies that sneak up on us this time of year and cause her to have a sore throat and cough.
Be prepared
Since we can’t keep our children from getting a sore throat, we must make sure and be prepared with products like Little Remedies®. I love Little Remedies®. I started using them several years ago when I did my very first post for them, and to this day they are my go-to when the kids are sick.
My youngest daughter, the drama queen of them all, will not take medicine when she is sick. I am not joking; I have to beg her to take anything. Well, she had a sore throat recently, so I decided to try Little Remedies® Sore Throat Pops, which are made using real honey and she took it. I even told her it was medicine; I don’t know that she believed me, but you don’t see this mom complaining.
- LittleRemedies® Sore Throat Pops are perfect for calming those fiery throats, and they are made with real honey. Oh, and you are going to love that they are not made with any artificial dyes, parabens, or artificial flavors.
- Little Remedies® Honey Cough Syrup is perfect for soothing coughs day or night! Don’t worry, it’s made with 100% real honey and only contains three ingredients, and there are no artificial flavors or colors, no alcohol or saccharin, and none of that yucky high fructose corn syrup.
Little Remedies® knows that parents don’t want to give our children anything we don’t have either. So their products only have what is needed to make our kids feel better and nothing more.
Little Remedies has products for colds, coughs, tummies, noses, fevers, and more. To learn more about Little Remedies, you can visit LittleRemedies.com. Oh, and if your little one is sick and you are not sure which product you need, you can try their excellent Symptom Checker. Parents can also find out where to buy and, of course, take advantage of special offers when they visit LittleRemedies.com.
*Note that Little Remedies Sore Throat Pops are only for use by children over the age of 1.

I have been dealing with sick children for several weeks now. Little Remedies helped greatly but they ended up needing antibiotics as well.
OMG, POOR YOU! It seems like once one gets sick they all get sick. Mine normally one-by-one thankfully, because having 4 sick ones at the same time. I don’t know if I would make it out with any hair lol.
Super helpful?
