Fun Activities To Do With Kids This Summer

Today’s post is brought to you by the one and only Cottenelle (#LetsTalkBums)!  As always all opinions are 100% my own, just the same of my love for Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths on-the-go packs!  So who’s ready to see what fun activties to do with your kids this summer we have come up with?

Summer is mom’s time to kick up her feet and relax, until about 9am that is.  Hey, I will take it, during the school months if I want to relax, I have to wake up at 4am, and only get a few hours.  Plus, I don’t have to take the kids to school first thing in the morning, and I get to enjoy my children’s company all summer long, but I also want to keep them busy or I risk them going crazy, lol.  Plus, I don’t want to hear the dreaded “I’m Boarded” every three minutes. If you are looking for fun Activities To Do With Kids, that are free or at least cheap here are a few thing we enjoy.

Baking – It’s fun, and if you choose something like cookies the kids can decorate them.  Baking is one of my favorite activities to do with kids, and it even takes me back to when I was a kid helping my mom and granny bake..

Crafts – We have craft days, and I try to plan what we will be doing in advance so we have enough time to collect the materials.

Visit the beach – We don’t live near the beach, BUT if we did we would visit and collect sea shells for crafts.

Visit the forest – This is one of our favorite things to do, we drive out to the forest to collect things for crafts, explore, or just get out of the house.  The kids love it, and due to all the trees if is often much cooler.

Ducks – Go feed the ducks.  We have 10 ducks, and yes, we go feed them, but the girls also like to head down to “The Beach” and feed the ducks.  It’s not really a beach, it’s what we call a big body of water here in the desert, lol.

Ice Cream – Do not buy it, make it!

Water fight – Having a water fight with my kids typically means, I do all the chasing and spraying them, but hey, it makes them happy, and it is a great way to cool off.

Morning Walk – Go for a walk in the morning before it gets hot outside.

Melt Crayons – It’s HOT outside, why not make some crayon art, by melting crayons in the sun.  On a piece of paper, of course.

Paint Rocks – Every year I let my kids paint rocks for the garden.  It looks pretty, is fun for them, and I honestly love that it gives my garden a little extra color.

Bird Feeders – You can make some bird feeders for those birds that keep coming by every morning.

Park – Go to the park, and let them kids play.

Walk the dog – Take the dog on a walk, now and then my kids will ask to walk the dog around the yard if we cannot go on a long walk.  Either way, it’s something for them to do, and the dog likes it too.

Plant something – Let the kids choose their own flowers, buy the seeds, and help them plant and care for it all summer long.

Hike – Take the kids on a little hike, it is a great way to wear all of you out.

Fishing – We love to go fishing during the summer, and the kids freak out when they catch a fish, lol.

Summer scrapbook – Help the kids make a scrapbook of their summer.  Be sure to put it up for them until they get older so it isn’t torn up.

Zoo – Call your local zoo, they likely have certain days of the week, or month that are free or cheap.

Mud – Play in the mud, and yes, this is probably one of my kid’s favorite things to do.

Movie – Call your local movie theater and see if they offer free movies for younger children.  I have noticed many places have a free movie day, or time of day.

Could watching – Lay out on the grass with the kids, and make shapes out of the clouds.  This is personally one of my favorite activates.

Create a back yard water park – You can do this with a few baby pools, Slip n’ Slide and even an old hose.  If you have, an old hose poke holes in it, and place it up so it works as a mister.  Great way to cool off on a hot day.

Outside cold bubble bath – We got bored last year, and for the first time took an outside bubble bath.  I filled a kid’s pool with bubbles, and cold water.  The kids jumped in and played for a long time.  Don’t forget the sunscreen.

Workshop – Places like Home Depot have free workshops for kids who are at least 5 years old.  My daughter Vayda loves going to these, last year she went to two because she needed to learn how to make a few things. They make crafts and learn to build with wood.  Vayda loves it, and cannot wait until

Movie – Why not let the kids make their own movies. Whether they star in the movie or, their dolls do.

Picnic – Go on a picnic, if you cannot get away from the house maybe consider a backyard picnic.

Kite – You can purchase a kit for cheap, and it can give hours of fun.

Tour – Take the on a tour.

Bowling – Remember in most places kids can bowl free.

Botanical Gardens – Loads up the kids for a day of adventure at the Botanical Gardens.

Summer reading programs – Let the kids join a summer reading program.

Ride Bikes – Go riding bikes, if you don’t have a bike let the kids ride while you walk.

Hammock – Swing in a hammock together.

Yard Work – Make yard work fun, by letting the kids bring out their tools and help a little too

Fort – Build a secret fort somewhere, and do not tell anyone.
