This post was written in 2017 as part of a sponsored partnership with our friend at Hilton. While a lot has changed since 2017 there are still plenty of awesome things to do in the area, and our friends at Hilton are still there if you are looking for a place to lay your head or swim nonstop like my girls did lol.
Have you been to San Antonio, Texas? It’s such a neat place. My two girls and I recently went on a little trip to San Antonio, Texas, and went to SeaWorld. We had a blast; it was magical, and the girls had such an amazing time and loved being splashed by a whale. So many memories we will carry with us forever.
Things To Do In San Antonio, Texas
While we were in San Antonio, Texas learning about all the awesome things we could do, I couldn’t help it. I created a little bucket list for our next trip. Below are a few of the many awesome things you can do in the area.
Sea World
My favorite part of our vacation was visiting SeaWorld and watching my girls’ faces when they were able to see whales, pet dolphins, watch shows, and ride the rides. Poor Vayda, she has to ride the small rollercoaster with her younger sister. Well, it was a good thing it was one of the last activities we did and that we tested it out before jumping on the big one because she got an upset tummy, lol. Oh, there were so many awesome times, but my favorite was seeing their little faces after they got splashed by the whale. I don’t think I will ever forget them; we had great seats. So many great memories I will carry for a lifetime.
Six Flags
I’m sure you have heard of Six Flags, right? Well, you are in luck because there is a Six Flags in San Antonio, and I have heard from a number of people that it’s an awesome experience.
River Walk
Okay, this is awesome, and our hotel, Hampton By Hilton, was a hop, skip, and a jump away from the San Antonio River Walk. If you visit, the River Walk is a must-see and a great place for an afternoon stroll along the Paseo del Rio.
San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium
The San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium is a great place to take the kids! It’s a fun and affordable way to spend the day, especially if you are running late lol. Yes, we hit up the zoo because we just couldn’t seem to get ourselves out of the hotel. Well, in all actual reality, I couldn’t get the girls out of the pool; I think Mattie would have been happy staying at the hotel the whole time and swimming. Every time I turned around, she was asking if we could go back to the hotel, which was rather nice because Mom got to relax a bit more than planned.
The Alamo
You know, this has been on my bucket list the past few times we have visited San Antonio, and for some strange reason, we never make it.
Ghost Tour
Did you know that you can take a ghost tour? Yeah, I had no idea until we got home. Isn’t that the luck, right? The Alamo City Ghost Tours and the Sister Grimm Ghosts Tour sound AWESOME!
Morgan’s Wonderland
Yet another thing I didn’t know was in San Antonio until we returned home. Morgan’s Wonderland is supposed to be an excellent place to take the kids. They can ride rides, swing, take a train, and do tons more.
Majestic Theatre
The Majestic Theatre was built back in 1929, and it is an experience just to see. It’s beautiful, and the domed ceilings are painted with clouds and starts.
Tower of the Americas
This is awesome, and I can’t tell you how cool it was 750 feet in the air. Did you know that it is taller than the Space Needle in Seattle? It sure is; it’s the tallest building in San Antonio and gives you a fantastic view of the area.
Witt Museum
You can experience what it is like to become part of the CSI team if you visit the Witt Museum. This is definitely on my bucket list.
I can’t tell you how happy I was to see the lights on the Hampton by Hilton once we arrived. It was a long drive; somehow an eight-hour drive turned into an almost 12-hour drive. Honestly, I don’t even know how that happened, but I’m thinking the 102 potty breaks had something to do with it. Basically, by the time it was said and done, we flew by the seat of our pants, and I honestly think the girls would have been 100% happy staying at the hotel the entire time swimming. I’m not even joking.
Our stay at Hampton by Hilton was the only thing that went as planned—we planned on a beautiful place to stay that was close to the River Walk where we could get ready for the day, have a comfy place to sleep and relax, and, of course, the girls were pumped about swimming. We were not disappointed with our stay at Hampton by Hilton in San Antonio one bit.
The staff were accommodating; they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and were so sweet when I called to let them know we were running a few hours behind schedule. My personal favorite thing about Hampton By Hilton was that I slept like a baby and so did my kids. I’m super picky about where I sleep, but I have not one complaint, not even about the pillows. Vayda, sleep like a rock star. She is probably going to kill me if she finds out I put this picture up of her sleeping, but isn’t that what real travel is about? I mean, nobody sleeps like they do in the movies, right? We’re real, we sleep real, and real stuff always happens.
You know, traveling is never as perfect as they make it seem on TV; it’s real travel. By real travel, I mean road trips with the kids, work trips, or flying isn’t always the most glamorous thing. Things happen; our trips get real. We arrived late, forgot things, stopped for 105 potty breaks, I forgot to bring along snacks, and we had planned on doing certain things in a particular order, and we did some of this stuff but not in any certain order.
Long Weekender Package
Want to know something else that is really neat about Hampton by Hilton? They have a long weekender package. See, when you book a three-day weekend, you get 50% off your Sunday stay. Is that cool or what? You can get more details here.
