Your garage is the one place you can ensure your car is safe, but sometimes you’ve got to break it out and have a little fun!

10 Things To Bring On A Road Trip

things to bring on a road tripIf you’re planning a road trip, follow packing list to ensure you have everything you need to stay safe, entertained, and on track!

1) Good company – Good travel companions are essential for a positive and relaxing road trip without any stress or hiccups in planning or navigation. Friends and loved ones are what will make the trip worthwhile or not. Bringing your significant other or your best friends along for the adventure can make for an exciting new experience for you.

2) Music – Load up those playlists and make sure everything is fully charged before you even put the key in the ignition to ensure a relaxing and fun trip. Your musical taste can change with your mood faster than you can get into different locations with new radio stations, so stick with your own picks.

3) GPS – The most important aspect of your road trip is knowing exactly where you’re going, so try to plan your route as thoroughly as possible. Most smart phones are equipped with GPS, but a portable GPS or map is also a great way to save on battery life and roaming charges.

4) Car Essentials – Keeping proper tools, a gas can and an extra bottle of motor oil on hand are smart ways to prepare for the unthinkable when on a road trip, and avoid any mishaps along the way. These basic items are there in case you misjudge the distance to the next gas station or end up in a minor accident.

5) First Aid Kit – This hopefully won’t get used on your road trip, but is essentially in ensuring safety and security along the way. Band-Aids, gauze, wraps, ointment and ibuprofen are great things to keep on hand to prepare for the unexpected along the way of your adventure.

6) Camera – Although there is one included in your smartphone, nothing beats a great camera for taking photos of all of the scenery you’ll pass and memories you’ll have on your road trip, and you won’t have to worry as much about keeping it all charged if you keep a few extra batteries on hand.

7) Food/Drinks – A cooler is an effective way to store food and drinks on your trip, so fit as many as you can in the trunk to ensure a cheap snack is always on hand. Your wallet will thank you when you’re not breaking the bank eating out all the time, so at most limit yourself to one restaurant a day.

8)  Power Inverter – If you’re set on using your smartphone for everything from GPS to music to photos and video, you’re probably going to need a charger on hand in the car. A power inverter will allow you to keep all of your electronics charged so you won’t have to rely on hotels or restaurants to recharge.

9)Bathroom Essentials – Keeping an extra stick of deodorant around can diffuse a stinky situation between you and your friends, and toilet paper can be a saviour if there is a bathroom emergency on the road. Take both of these items, along with a toothbrush, shampoo, soap and razors to freshen up on the road.

10 )Sleeping Essentials – Ensuring you and your companions are comfortable is an essential tip for any road trip. Even if you plan on staying in a hotel every night, bringing your own blanket and pill is a great idea for when you pass out in the backseat. A tent and sleeping bag are also a great idea for nights under the stars and will save you money.
