5 Ways To Show Your Dog You Love Them

Over my life, I have rescued a lot of dogs, purchased dogs, been given dogs, and so on. I love dogs and animals in general. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives, and it’s important we show them just how special they are and for you to show your dog you love them.

This is an older post that I moved over from Jenns Blah Blah Blog about my dog Sasha. She isn’t with us anymore. RIP, RIP Sasha I love you and think about you often. Sasha, which is one of the best dogs, was such a loving, loyal, and fierce protector of my kids, to name a few of the many amazing qualities she had. She was loved by many more than I can put into words.

5 Ways To Show Your Dog You Love Them

Here are five of the many ways you can show your dog you love them.

Be sure you are prepared for the responsibility

Dogs are a great addition to the family, but it’s important to understand they are a long term commitment. Be sure to think about that before getting a dog.

What pup doesn’t love walks with their owner

Make sure your dog is getting plenty of exercise by taking them for walks.  The more walks, the better; I’m sure your pup will agree. However, I also understand that walks are not always easy for us to keep up with, especially if we have multiple dogs. Which is why, I try to take my dogs for runs as often as possible. I know, I know. Let me explain. It will make sense.

I currently have four dogs; thankfully I have a large backyard, so they have plenty of room to run and play, but taking everyone for a while can be a bit of a challenge. Which is why I like to load them all up and head out to an old dirt road with no traffic and kick their booties out of the truck. I know, it sounds awful, but they absolutely love every second of it. I drive nice and slow; they get to run around and smell everything, and they never get far from the truck. If they do, a simple honk of the horn has them heading back. We call it “going for a run,” and my dogs absolutely love it.

Get both them and yourself some training.

Training your dog will make everyone’s life easier. Not only will you be able to control your dog, you will have the opportunity to spend more time with them because you will be able to handle them when you are away from the house. If you are not able to afford training, you can ask family and friends for advice or do some research and look for dog training tips online. There are plenty of resources out there to help you get started training your pup. Plus, just spending time together is a great bonding experience for both you and your dogs.

Let them be dogs.

Take your pup to the dog park, let him mingle with other dogs, and let him go outside and play. If you have other dogs, let them all spend time together. It’s important to let a dog be a dog and enjoy their life.

Make sure you are giving your pup a healthy diet

While dogs do love human food and sometimes it’s difficult not to share with them, keep in mind human food isn’t always good for dogs and be very mindful of the things you give them to eat. Like us, it’s important your dog has a healthy diet.
