It’s summer, and there is still plenty of warm days left to get a pool for the kids if you haven’t already, but it’s also important to consider water safety.  It doesn’t matter the size of the pool, water safety is important. It took me a little while before I purchased a pool for kids, because I wanted to be sure I picked the right pool for my kids.  As a parent, I want to be sure my kids fully understand water safety, and how to act in a pool.  If you are thinking about purchasing a pool for kids a few  water safty tips.

Eight Tips To Consider Before Purchasing a Pool For KidsEight Tips To Consider Before Purchasing a Pool For Kids

If you are planning to purchase a pool for the kids, keeping them safe is top priority.  As parents, we need to be sure we purchase a pool that will help us keep our kids safe in the water.

Supervision

There is not a substitute for adult supervision, and babies, toddlers, younger children should not be left without adult super vision, and nothing can replace it.  If your infant or toddler is playing in the water, (how deep water is doesn’t matter) you should be arm’s length away from them.  It only takes a moment for something to happen so give them your undivided attention.

Education

Teach children about the power of water, enroll in swimming lessons, teach them how to float, tread water, and always stay nearby.

Teach children about swimming in different types of water – rivers, lakes, oceans, pools, etc.

Swimming Aids

Keep around swimming aids for the kids – floats, noodles, etc.  It’s also important to remember swimming aids are a tool and should not be used as such.  Children still need supervision, and an adult to help them.

When pool is not in use

When you are not using the pool, if possible release water, and put the pool up.  Many above ground pools cannot be emptied after use, so it’s important we install door alarms so we know when kids go outside, put a fence around the pool, remove ladder from pool, and take any other measures possible to keep childen safe.

CPR

If you have children it’s always a good idea to learn CPR.  It’s a skill you can carry with you and be proud of your entire life.

Water

Keep water clean and clear for swimming.  Maintain proper chemical levels, circulation, filtration, as well as regularly test to keep water clean in larger pool.

Rules

Have certain rules in place for proper water safety – no swimming unsupervised, no diving, walking only, etc.

Choose the right pool

There are tons of pools to choose from be sure you choose one that is right for your family.  We have a huge above ground pool that we have not put up in. We recently received an awesome pool from Backyard Ocean and we just love it.  The 12’ x 30” Float to Fill™ Ring Pool was perfect for our needs.  With two little ones, there is no way I was going to put up the big pool, and risk something happening.  However, I did not want the kids to miss pool time fun this summer.  We have had a blast using our medium size pool, it’s been perfect for everyday fun, and even my teen and her boyfriend have been caught taking a dip.

Backyard Ocean 12’ x 30” Float to Fill™ Ring PoolThe Backyard Ocean Float to Fill™ Ring Pool makes it super easy to let the kids have fun in the sun, with a quality pool, that’s easy to put up and take down.  Putting it up was super easy, my husband had it done in no time.  Simply lay it on flat surface, inflate the ring with air, fill the pool with water, and let the kids have fun.

waiting for pool to get set upI think the hardest part of setting up the pool was the kids waiting for it to fill up.  Naturally, it takes a bit to fill up, unless you are lucky and have some serious water pressure.

Did you know you can grab the 12’ x 30” Float to Fill™ Ring Pool for only $69.99 when you visit BackYardOcean.com?  I am not even joking, that’s one awesome price – especially because it comes with not only the pool, but 2 beach balls, and a repair patch just in case.  Thankfully, we have not had to use the repair pack, which actually surprises me considering this pool has bene used every single day, not only by the kids, but I am consistently kicking the ducks out of it too, lol.

My husband and I have also been doing some looking for a sturdy above ground pool with steel sidings.  You know something that will last, so we are not spending several hundred dollars every few years on a new pool.  Anyway, Backyard Ocean has the pool we want, and WOW now is the time to purchase a pool.  Did you know you know how much you can save on a pool if you purchase right now from Backyard Ocean?  It’s a lot, and depends on which pool you want, but Shawn and I are already buying a big pool, with super strong steel construction for next year!  The hardest part about this is going to be waiting, especially considering the money we will be saving.
