It’s warming up outside, which means it’s time to start spending more time outside with kids this spring, not only for you but for the kids too. Remember to make those kids get outside and play; it’s good for them. My girls love to go outside and play, and since it’s been warmer, they have been doing some things to keep themselves busy outside, so I thought I would share a few of them with you in case your kids need some ideas.
Things To Do Outside with Kids This Spring
Here are a few things you and the kids can do outside since the days are finally getting nicer!
- Mudpies: They have done this once; it’s not warm enough just yet to turn them loose on the hose for a mud pie contest, but it will be soon, and they love making mud pies.
- Hide n seek – Who doesn’t like a good game of hiding and seek?
- Sidewalk art: Grab some chalk and let the kids have fun. It washes off, so you don’t have anything to worry about.
- Gardening: My girls love to garden. They don’t like pulling weeds much, but they know it’s part of it, so they’ll do it, just not nearly as well as they plant or water.
- Jumping rope—I miss the days of jumping rope. However, I do get to watch my kids play with their jump rope all spring and summer.
- Read a book in a hammock – Talk about relaxing, right?
- Swing in a hammock: Since you’ll be reading in a hammock, why not have a little extra fun and swing too? One of my favorite things to do as a tween was head outside and swing in the hammock.
- Date – Play dress up with your little guy or gal and head out to the backyard for lunch.
- Secret hideout: It’s time to find that secret hideout you’ll be using this summer.
- Ping-pong: This is where the kids are hanging out, thanks to KillerSpin.com. My youngest daughter is getting pretty darn good too. They seriously spend at least an hour or two playing ping pong every other day.
We recently received a ping pong table from Killerspin, and I wish I would have known how much the kids were going to like it. Seriously, it’s Awesome!
Killerspin uses the term UnPlugNPlay because they understand our struggles to get our children to step away from technology. As parents, we are often stuck with a kid who would rather stay inside and be on the computer, phone, tablet, or playing video games. Getting too caught up in social media can often have a sour effect on the real world and the real people in it.
The people at KillerSpin.com have designed UnPlugNPlay to help parents get their kids away from technology and get up to enjoy some quality time with the family. All you need is a Killerspin ping pong table, a few ping pong balls, paddles, and each other. You can make the rules up as you go; it’s your game; you decide how you want to do things.
Nothing is set in stone; all that matters is that you put the technology down and pick up some paddles for some good old family time. I can tell you from experience that it’s fun, and my kids have loved every second of it. The girls even practice so they can get better than my husband and me, lol. They are getting pretty good, and it’s not going to be long, and they’re going to beat old mom and dad, which would be awesome.
The design team at KillerSpin.com wanted to create a table that was superior in every way to other outdoor ping-pong tables. The table surface is specially designed to withstand the elements due to its aluminum and plastic top, which includes true bounce technology. The table is also 50 percent thicker than traditional tablets.
Our Killerspin Ping Pong table is an indoor/outdoor table, which is perfect for us. Since we haven’t moved yet, we have been taking it out of the garage and putting it up each night. Thankfully, it’s super easy to set up and take down. Everything comes apart nice and easy and goes back together just as easily.
I can’t wait to get into our new house with a big deck. Our ping pong table is going to look excellent. The girls have been talking about turning the table into a fort but haven’t been able to yet because of the weather and time, but don’t you worry, I’m sure this bad boy will be turned into more than just a fort if I know my kids.

My kids and I like to run. We race eachother from one side of the fence all the way across the yard to the other side. It works wonders for helping them sleep at night. ?
I bet it does.. Kids need to be active all that energy balled up isn’t healthy for anyone within a 5-mile radius lol. Do you guys ping pong?
WOW, I never thought about ping pong for the kids. That is a great idea, I know I loved it as a child. Heck I still do, it sure would be fun this spring and something the whole family can do. Thanks for the great tips, always love reading your blog.
