Fun Things To Do With Kids On Valentine's Day

Things To Do On Valentine’s Day With Kids

If you are looking for a few fun things to do on Valentine’s Day with kids, here are a few things to get you started.

Valentine’s Day Recipe: All you need is a little bit of time, ingredients, and a whole lot of love to put a smile on a child’s face when you invite them to bake with you.  Let your kids pick out a Valentine’s Day recipe they like and have fun in the kitchen.

Make Valentine’s Day cards. Whether you help them make Valentine’s Day cards for their dad or some friends at school, this is a great way to be sure they feel loved on this day built for couples.

Don’t forget to make Valentine’s Day Cards for the kids too: YES, put a little time into creating a speical handmade card for your kido!

Valentine’s Day Shopping: Valentine’s Day outfits are great, but even if you cannot afford an outfit, you can get them something special or let them pick something cute out for one another that is small.

Flower or Balloon: If you stop by the store to grab some flowers, why not grab an extra flower or a balloon for each one of the kids to brighten their day?

Valentine’s Day Gift: There are some great inexpensive Valentine’s Day gifts for kids: pencils, notebooks, etc.  I always get my kids those little pieces of chocolate.  They love it, I don’t allow them to eat candy often so when they get their own, they feel extra special.

Valentine’s Day Treasure Hunt: What kid doesn’t enjoy a treasure hunt, Even something small done inside will put a smile on their face and make them feel included?

Valentine’s Day Crafts: My favorite thing to do with my kids is do crafts.  I am actually get much more creative, too.  I think it’s one of those things: the more you do it, the more comfortable you are and the better you get.  There are tons of fabulous ideas on Pinterest

Movie: Catch an early movie or watch one together.  You could even find some fun Valentine’s Day videos to watch.

Special Breakfast: Make a special Valentine’s Day breakfast for everyone.

Valentine’s Day Outing: Get out and do something.  Go to the park, the zoo, ice skating, or something the kids will enjoy.  It might not be warm enough to spend time at the park for some of you, but where I live, it’s almost 70 so the park is perfect.

Makeover: If you have girls, chances are they love to play makeover, and it’s probably fun for you as well.

Educate—I know, but kids love Valentine’s Day, but do they know the real meaning behind it.  Do they know why we celebrate it? Spend a little time talking about why we celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Early Family Game Night: We always have fun playing something on the Wii.

Make Them the Talk of The Class. My kids always have a party for Valentine’s Day. This is the perfect time to get them info the kitchen to help bake some awesome cookies, cupcakes or make some super fun Valentine’s Day treats that will be talk of the class.

Have Fun Together: Take the kids out to ride bumper cars, go bowling, put-put golf, or whatever your family enjoys.  Being active in the early evening means tuckered-out happy kids!

Play Twister. This is a great game that everyone will get a few laughs out of.

Have a Tea Party—I say tea party because my girls always want to have a tea party with mom super cool glassware.  I NEVER let them, but I was thinking about letting them use it this year.  If I am lucky enough, they will invite me, and I can keep an eye on everything.

Build A Fort – Why not build an AWESOME fort!  Make sure it’s huge, and takes up most of the living room, let the kids go crazy, and help them. They might be in shock for the first 7 minutes, but after they get over the shock I am sure they will have a blast lol.

Ask – Ask your kids what they want to do.  If they are anything like mine you will have 29 ideas to choose from, and they are all something the kids have picked.  Which makes them feel a little more special, after all that is what Valentine’s Day is about.

In the end it is about making your kids feel special to, they deserve it.  I know with my kids are easy to please, they don’t expect a dozen roses, or an expensive gift.  They just want a little of mom and dads time, attention, hugs and love.

These are all great ideas Jenn, my faves are shopping, Valentine’s Day outing, and movies or DVDs. Let the kids pick what they want to watch, make some trail mix, and sit back and watch some great DVDs. Thank you for this great list.

Theses are really good ideas. My husband usually gets me flowers and an edible arrangement and he gets the kids teddy bears with a balloon.

You are very creative! I would never have thought of all those ideas. My son is grown now, but I still send him a Valentines card. 🙂

I never thought about teaching the rugrats about what Valentine’s Day really means. Combined with a cute cupcake for each that would make for a wonderful day!

Those are good ideas. I remember in elementary school we always had to bring cards in for the class and we had a class party. In kindergarten a little boy ran up to me, kissed my hand and ran away.

I think everyone thinks of the romance with hubby on V Day. But the kids get really excited about V Day too!! Of course my granddaughter get excited about any holiday type of day, but their faces are priceless when you are so surprised at the little gift they gave you, or the dinner out you all planned together!

I love these ideas!! Valentine’s Day is all about LOVE! And nothing says LOVE like spending quality time with your children — who are the very definition of innocence and unconditional love!

Great tips. I will be certain to try some of them this year with my 13 & 10 yo disabled sons and my 11 yo typical daughter. THANKS! <3 <3 <3

Since Valentine’s day is supposed to be spent with the one’s we love I agree that it should include the kids as well. After all we love our kids. Maybe not in the same way as we love our spouse but it is still love. The kids will really have fun and that is what it is all about. It really warms my heart to see kids having fun.
