I’m always open to trying another educational app for the iPad, and I know my girls are right behind me, as long as it’s fun. I was excited to try an awesome new educational app by Disney –Mickey’s Magical Math World – The first app in the Disney Imagicadamy series.
Some of you might have heard of the new learning brand – Disney Imagicademy – Disney is launching for children ages 3 to 8. Disney wants to help enrich and engage kids with their creativity and imagination, two very powerful tools. Disney Imagicademy doesn’t rely on rote memorization or repetitive game playing like many of the other learning aids available. Disney is stepping things up a bit by introducing our kids to the fundamental subject matters through a system of apps that build on one another and help reinforce learning concepts in an immersive and fun way.
Disney’s Imagicademy Mickey’s Magical Math World App
We enjoyed Mickey’s Magical Math World for several different reasons, and I’m sure we will still find more as we play more! It’s really a great app, but I haven’t been able to play it as much as I like, lol. I
We went to see my mom a few days ago. It’s a trip we make enough that I know my kids will tell me they’re bored at least twice on the way there and back. This time they had an iPad with Mickey’s Magical Math World, and they were happy playing the app and taking a short nap. I didn’t hear “Mom are we there yet?” or “Mom how much longer, we’re so bored.” Now that I think about it we didn’t even have to stop and pee! Now, that’s a record, lol.
What’s cooler than joining Mickey Mouse and his buds for some fun-filled space-time? Well, joining Mickey and the gang using mom’s iPad sure did make it cooler, lol. Which I’m fine with because they’re learning and having fun. I do not even think my girls realize there is math involved, lol.
5 Different Worlds To Explore
There are so many things they kids can do to stay busy and put their minds to work in a way that’s fun. It’s hard for them to get bored, because once they’re bored of one world they can move on to the next.
Before handing the iPad over for my children to play mom has to check everything out! There are five play areas where children are invited to join Mickey Mouse and his buds for some super-duper fun space-time.
- Mickey’s Super Rocket Shapes
- Goofy’s Silly Sorting
- Daily’s Bedtime Countdown
- Minnie’s Robot Count-Along
- Donald’s Number Launcher
When playing Mickey’s Magical Math World children will do all sorts of fun activities with Mickey and his pals like counting, number challenges, shapes, and more.
Fun ways to start practicing early math skills
Mickey’s Magical Math World helps kids start practicing early math skills such as defining attributes of different shapes, sorting objects by color and shapes, solving problems using reasoning and logic, counting forward to 10 and backward from 10, and even early adding and subtraction. Some of the math was too basic for Vayda, who’s 6 but as she moved on to different worlds and further into the app she had to put on her thinking cap.
I don’t know if the girls have a favorite game. I know they liked visiting the different worlds and seeing some of their favorite characters. I think they appreciated the fact they had access to so much, which helped to keep them engaged and to learn when we went out-of-town a few days ago.

Be sure to download the free Disney iPad apps in the Apple App Store.
Imagicademy apps are designed for kids 3 to 8 years, and Mickey’s Magical Math World was great for my 4-year-old daughter Mattie. Vayda had to put on her thinking cap a little too, but she’s 6, and some of the math was too basic, but as she explored other worlds and moved along she had to put her thinking cap on. It was also nice to listen to the two girls in the backseat talking. Vayda was trying to help Mattie and explain things to her, so even when the math was basic for Vayda she had to really stop and think about how she could explain it to her little sister so she could understand it. I will never forget their conversation in the backseat of the car; it was certainly an educational discussion and so sweet to hear big sister helping her little sister!
I’m defiantly excited about the launch of the Imagicademy and will be on the lookout for more content as it makes it way to the Apple App Store! Be sure to swing by DisneyImagicademy.com to stay up to date with everything and find out more information about this exciting new Disney brand.
