Daylight savings time ends on Sunday, November 3rd, at 2:00. If you are like me, you might be looking for sleep tips for babies. I always dread rolling my clock back an hour; it makes things harder around my house, not only for me and my husband but for the kids too.ย Getting out of bed at 6:30 is now like 5:30 a.m.; itโs no wonder we have a difficult time until we adjust.
Babies 5 months and older are likely to have a sleep pattern, which means mom often feels the loss of sleep as well. ย The good news is that there are a few things we can do to make the time change easier for everyone.
If youโre a mom looking for a few great tips to help your baby sleep with the Daylight Savings time change coming up, here are a few tips to help you.
7 Daylight Savings Sleep Tips for Baby
- Start thinking about adjusting your childโs bedtime and nap times early.ย Just 15 to 30 minutes a day for a few days before daylight savings ends.ย This will make the time change easy on you and your baby.ย Remember when you adjust naps and bedtime to adjust mealtimes as well.
- For children under the age of 4, nap time is important, so be sure and make them top priority during the time change.ย Be sure baby is exposed to the natural light of the day, open curtains, go on walks, go outside, and enjoy the day.ย Before bedtime, you can help your child get good sleep by closing certain doors and dimming the lights about 30-45 minutes before nap time.ย If, for some reason, your child needs a late afternoon nap, be sure itโs no longer than 45 minutes, or you will have a little one up past their bedtime.
- Consider installing curtains that blackout the room, and possibly a sound machine.
- Get outside, and be active.ย My favorite thing to do, get outside and play hard, get that energy out.ย It will make your little one sleep better, lay down more easily, and often leads to mom sleeping better as well lol.
- Right now is the perfect time to make sure your little ones bedtime is age appropriate.
- Help your baby know when itโs bedtime by establishing a betimes routine that is soothing.
- Pay attention, and look for sleepy time cues from your little one.ย Change your little ones diaper right before they go to sleep.
Did you know that about 52% of moms feel that their sleep papers are off when Daylight Savings Time ends?ย Having a super absorbent diaper is important, especially during the time change.ย Yes, the end of daylight savings time! ย Good luck, moms!

These are good tips. I’ll pass along to my daughter with her 2 little ones. Definitely agree on the “play hard.” Even I need to do that in order to sleep well.
