Benefits of Having a Video Baby Monitor To Help Watch Kids

Do you use a baby monitor for things other than watching the baby? I recently started using a Motorola MBP26S video baby monitor to help me watch my kids. I think there are several great benefits to having a video baby monitor to help watch kids. I know having the Motorola MBP26S video baby monitor in my home has helped me sleep better at night for several reasons.

I have kids ranging from 3 all the way to 16, and soon my sister will be living with my husband and me, so that means more kids! You may already know we built on to our home, and I love having a larger home, but there have been a few things I don’t like about having a larger home. One of them is being so far away from my children. I still have young children, and my husband’s bedroom is on the other side of the house, which is going to be great once the kids are older. Until the kids are older, I’ve had to find other ways to keep an eye on them, because not only is our bedroom on the other end of the house, so is my office. If I do not use a video baby monitor like the Motorola MBP26S video baby monitor, I can’t work, sleep, or think because I can’t see or hear my children well enough.

Before receiving the Motorola MBP26S video baby monitor, I slept on the couch in the front room for a while because I was worried I wouldn’t hear my children if they needed me in the middle of the night. I cannot tell you how much easier life has been since we received our Motorola MBP26S video baby monitor. Which opened my eyes to other benefits of having a video baby monitor to help watch kids. Sure, we’ll need one in the baby’s room when it gets here, but until then, I think most parents would say it was safe to ditch the monitor. So I figured I would share a few reasons parents should have a video baby monitor in their home, even without a baby!

Being a busy mom to four children, I am always on the go, it’s never ending. Even on the days I think I’ll be able to stay home and relax, I’m running somewhere for someone, or something crazy. Rather than getting upset, I have learned there are things every busy mom should have in her handbag to be prepared.

Since I still have little ones who are not in school I have to be prepared, and forget thinking about everything I need before I leave, because it never works. If I try to remember everything I need before leaving the house, it never fails I forget my child, lol. Not really, but I forget all sorts of things. After years and years of toting around children there are certain things I keep in my handbag to make those get up and go trips to wherever less stressful.

10 Things Every Busy Mom Should Have In Her Handbag

Here are a few things every busy mom should keep in her handbag.

Lotion – This is for me, because I must have lotion to put on my hands after I wash them. Plus, it comes in handy more often than not.

Body spray – Again for mom, because stuff happens – especially when you hang with 3 year olds all day.

Toys – Hey, don’t be dogging on my toys. I like to pull the car over from time to time and play dolls. Not really, the kids sure do appreciate the fact they can get toys of moms handbag. Wait, it’s not really my handbag, it’s theirs, because it carries all their belongings. Oh, well another part of being mom, you have nothing private, EVER again. I promise, it’s worth it.

Sunscreen – The last thing I want are sunburned arms. Okay, busted yes I don’t want sunburned children either, and we tend to stop at the part on a moments notice. Better to have it, and not need it than to have a sunburned kid I always say.

Hand sanitizer – Humm, because my children cannot stop touching EVERYTHING! I need this all the time!

Antibacterial Wipes – Yes, I do need these too! Don’t worry I also have a stash of baby wipes in every car we own, lol.

Stain stick – I don’t really think I need to explain this one..

First Aid Kit – Okay, so maybe not the kit, but basics because it never fails the second I don’t have a band-aid in my handbag, BAM I need one. They make small travel sized first aid kits, which fit great in my bag.

Snacks – I don’t care if the kids has lunch right when we left the house, they’re going to want something to eat while we are in the most inconvenient places. Rather than stopping for something horrible for them, I keep things in my purse. If I have time I’ll cut up an apple, peel an orange, or toss grapes in baggies. However, I don’t always have time for that, and lucky for me not only my kids, but my husband also loves the new Jif To Go® Dippers! Reasons To Forgive People Who Hurt You & Open Your Heart

Have you ever stopped to think just how powerful the heart really is? We know it keeps us alive, and helps us feel, but beyond that have you listened to your hearts wisdom? Forgiving, forgetting, and moving on has never been something I was good at. It’s hard to think of reasons to forgive people who have hurt you is something I have never been good at, but it truely is for your benifit.

Reading The Power of the Heart opened my eyes to the power of the heart, but the chapter that inspired me the most was on forgiveness. I learned that forgiveness is liberating!

Forgiving someone isn’t easy, and it may seem ridiculous, but if you listen to your heart what does it tell you? By forgiving I don’t mean hanging out, or even talking to, but simply letting go of whatever is holding you back, hurting you, and turning your bitter. Forgiving isn’t easy, but it can set us free from holding ourselves prisoners of pain, hate, and fear. Forgiving isn’t for anyone’s benfit but your own, it’s to release you from all the negative emotions, so you can move forward with your life.

I’m guilty of holding on to hurt, because it doesn’t mean you have failed, been defeated, or that you’re forgetting about an event. By forgiving and allowing yourself not to be controlled by negativity you win, because you’re taking back what’s rightfully yours – your future – to move forward, and leave the past behind you, and opening the door to your heart again.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you’re condoning someone else’s behavior. This is a really important point. Forgiveness merely means that you are freeing yourself from the energy blogs that you are holding, those resentments that you are carrying. – Marci Shimoff

I learned several years ago that I had to forgive my husband for anything he did that hurt me if I truly wanted to move forward with him, and he had to forgive me. Let the past be the past, open back up, because you can never truly be happy if you harbor a grudge against someone. It was easy to see why I needed to forgive him to move forward, because I love him. I didn’t want to hold on to the past, because the future looked so bright. We were both able to forgive and move forward, because we love one another.

There are other people in my life who I never thought I would forgive, but after reading The Power of the Heart I learned that forgiving someone isn’t for them, it’s for me. I don’t have to love someone to forgive them, and forgiveness is ont admitting defeat. Now that I understand what forgiveness does, it’s easy to see why I should forgive those who have hurt me. There are parts of me that have been left battered and bruised, and it’s that way because I choose to hang on to those emotions. I have forgiven everyone in my life who’s hurt me, that doesn’t mean I’ll be calling them for lunch next week.

Reasons To Forgive People Who Hurt You & Open Your Heart

I know learning to forgive isn’t easy, and opening your heart after you’ve been hurt might sound impossible, but it’s not. Here are a few reasons to forgive and open your heart.

When you forgive you do it for yourself, your spiritual well-being, and physical health. The person whom you’re forgiving doesn’t even need to know, because you forgive them doesn’t mean you need to welcome them back into your life.

Is there someone in your life who has done something to hurt, betray, or upset you enough to keep yourself hostage?

It’s up to you to forgive someone. You can choose not to relive the paint, but to go on with your life. Nobody else can choose for you, and in the end nobody will benefit more from the choice than you.

Forgiving allows you to stop lingering in the past, and focus on the present moment.

All yourself to be happy again because you’re letting go of something that hurt you, and leaving it behind you.

We all deal with painful situations differently; it’s easier for some to forgive than others. There is no set time that you need to forgive, and nothing says you have to until you’re ready.

You don’t have to tell anyone.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean you have been defeated by the person who hurt you. By forgiving someone, you’re taking away any control they had over your life, and taking control yourself.

Forgiveness is unblocking all the roads to your heart to allow love to flow freely.

Forgiveness is an act of liberation. When you forgive, you free yourself from the bitterness inside yourself.

It is never too late to forgive someone.

Back-to-School Checklist: 10 Dorm Room Essentials

Do you have your back-to-school checklist finished yet? This time of year can be so stressful, I have four children, and I cannot seem to get everything finished. My husband and I leave town at 6am, and I am stressed to the max, but it’s our job to maintain our cool, and focus on helping our children gear up for their next year of school. Whether they are heading off to 1^st grade or their first year of college, it can be stressful. Thankfully, we have places like Walmart, who help make back-to-school shopping easier by having everything in one store, even fun Oval Tissues with a Chevron Design, which is definitely on my dorm room essentials list.

Back-to-School Checklist: 10 Dorm Room Essentials

With shopping in mind, and dorm room on the mind, here are my top 10 dorm room essentials to help get you started, and get those ideas flowing.

Storage – Typically, something that fits under the best nicely will help you keep things nice and organized.

Furniture – Be sure to check with your child’s school before buying too much furniture, they likely will not have a lot of room for extra furniture.

Essentials – Don’t forget things like Paper towels, cleaners, mop, broom, and for sure Kleenex.

You want them to head off to college with everyone in good condition. You might also consider an affordable tablet, it’s great for using skype to chat with mom and dad.

Bedding – It’s a must, nice bedding helps make anyone more comfortable – especially if they are away from home for the first time.

Mini fridge – Check with your child’s school and their roomie, but they will need a place to keep all that pizza cold, lol.

Headphones – Since they will have a roommate, I’m sure the time will come when they need a nice pair of headphones for class or doing homework on the computer. It’s a nice way to show their roommate some consideration.

Décor – The small things that make a dorm room feel more like home, because being away from home hard. Let your child pick out the décor, from the style of their bedding, headphones, accessories on their desk, it’s a great way to help feel better being away from home.

I remember when I left for college, I thought I was cool stuff, and I wasn’t going to miss home. Man, was I wrong. I missed home more than I thought, and I do admit looking around the room at décor I liked, that I picked out did help. From my favorite lap and cute storage bins under the bed, to an awesome bedspreads – I would have loved to have Kleenex Oval Expression Facial Tissue in my dorm room – helped make things, not so much easier, but more comfortable.

8 Reasons I Love My Local Albertsons

This post does contain affiliate links and is a sponsored post written for Albertsons. It’s my favorite place to do my grocery shopping, without a doubt! If you live in Carlsbad, I’m going to assume Albertsons is your favorite place to do grocery shopping too!

You have probably heard me complain about living in a small town 1000 times, but there are good sides to it too. One of my favorite things about living in a small town is that we know everyone, and if we don’t know them, we know someone who does, which yes, can be a bad thing, but it’s also a good thing. See, my kids don’t even try to get away with anything because they already know we’ll find out. Without a doubt, mom and dad will hear something from someone and put things together. It might take a month, maybe even two, but we will find out, lol.

It’s funny that the older I get, the more I look forward to crazy things, like grocery shopping. I admit it, I do like going grocery shopping. I don’t like those little quick trips to the store because they don’t happen, but I do like going big grocery shopping. Why? Okay, so really, I should say that differently. I love shopping at certain stores. There are stores that are crazy, crowded, not clean, people are not friendly, and well, I do not look forward to visiting.

Reasons I Love My Local Albertsons

I also love shopping at Albertsons; why? Well, there are a lot of reasons, but let me tell you the first 10 things that come to mind.

I feel at home

My youngest daughter and I are those early-bird shoppers. You know those who hit the sales first! My favorite place to shop is Albertson’s because everyone knows us; they have watched my kids grow up, and I think they are more excited for me to bring them along than they are when we are spending money. Oh, and now that Mattie is old enough to walk around the store, we have to stop and talk to everyone because Mattie is a talker and always wants to show off her shoes or something. The employees at Albertsons make us feel at home!

Relaxing

I don’t know why, but shopping has always been relaxing for me. Yes, any kind of shopping. I don’t know if it is the fact that I can get out of the house or if I just love to spend money. Now, shopping isn’t always relaxing; it really depends on where I shop. I try to avoid places that are crazy busy, because then it’s just stressful. Albertsons early in the morning is perfect. There is a few people there, but not to many, I find good deals on things my family likes, and my daughter is totally occupied by everyone talking to her, lol. I’m still in love with the weekly ad; it’s awesome. I always grab one on the way into the store because there are so many awesome deals going on.

Well Stocked

Albertsons always has what I need, and plenty of it. I don’t know how they keep up with everything, but it works because I always get what I go to the store for.

Clean

OMG, does cleanliness ever matter! If I am buying food or anything for my home, I want the store that it is coming from to be nice and clean! Albertsons is always super clean, and if there is ever a spill or anything, someone is there to clean it up right away.

Fresh food

I’m sure you are picking about fruit, veggies and meat too. I want them to be fresh, and that is all to it. I always find fresh fruit, veggies, and meat. Albertsons is the only place in town that I will buy meat, and I rarely get fruit and veggies anywhere else.

Customer Service

If you follow my blog, you know customer service is VERY important to me. I will actually pay more to be treated better, if need be that is. Albertsons has great customer service, everyone is nice, talks to you, and go out of their way to be sure you have a good shopping experience.

Shopping List

Before I head to the store, I can jump online, view their Online Weekly Ads, and save items to my grocery list, which are saved to my account so I can view everything on my phone. It’s an easy way to get those sale items thatI look forward to. BONUS Reasons is the SALES!

Are You Noseblind To Odors In Your Home?

Do you know what guest really smell when they walk into your house, or jump in your car for that matter? I am going to be honest, I didn’t, and I sure wish one of my mom and sister-n-law would have told me earlier. Come to find out a majority of American are noseblind to odors in their homes and cars. Since we are always in these places, our nose becomes blind to the odors in your home, cars, and on our belongings. If your house smells like pets, you might not notice because your nose gets used to these smells, but it is something a guest would smell because their nose isn’t blind to the smells.

Is Noseblind Real

I recently held a “Noseblind Test” in my home, and I am going to say YES! Noseblind is a real thing, and some of you might even be suffering from it and not notice it. I learned so much about the smells in my home from the “Noseblind Test”. Think about it, if you visit a friend who is cooking with garlic, onions, or keeps their pets in the house you can smell it. Well, have you ever stopped to think if they can smell those same smells? Chances are they are noseblind, because their nose had adapted to the odor, and the scent goes away. Getting used to a smell is 100% normal, and it’s your nose’s physical response that normalizes the new smells.

The Febreze Noseblind Test

It look forever to get my husband to gather all the kids and take them ouside for a swim. Shawn agreed to take the kids swimming so we could have our alone girl time for the Febreze Noseblind Test. It was super sweet of him, but I think the reason he was taking so long was becasue he was trying to get out of it, lol. Not really, but maybe who knows.

To be honest I didn’t think noseblind was as that big of a deal until I found out the results! See the noseblind test consisted of three easy online surveys that my mom and sister-n-law. We took one when they arrived, another after the popcorn was finished, and another after we watched a movie, and we were not allowed to talk about our answers until we finished.

I learned that my guest could smell my pets in the embarrassing, but I had to move on we had popcorn to make and a movie to watch.

So this is what I learned, when my guests first came to my house they smelled pets, after burning the popcorn they didn’t smell pets, they smelled popcorn. After I popped, popcorn that was all you could smell. Finally, after our movie, it was time to pull out the Febreze products. I couldn’t wait to show them, and see how well Febreze worked in my home. When we finally got up to go outside and check on the kids and my husband the house smelled like an amazing tropical island, and when we walked back in about an hour later it smelled even better. I guess everything was really putting off scent, and eliminating odors.

The noseblind test was interesting, but you know I couldn’t stop there. I needed to be sure my house wasn’t going to smell like dogs the next morning. Since my sister-n-law and I already had a Walmart date this morning, I made her come in and tell me what my house smelled like. Guess what? Let’s just say we both bought more Febreze products at the store this morning, and agreed that will we tell one another if their house smells funky. I want to know, and if anyone is going to tell me I want it to be close family and friends. Besides, friends and family should always help out a noseblind friend or family member! If you don’t know, its hard to fix something!
