10 Little Things You Can To Get Time For Yourself Each Day

If you’re like many other people, you’re probably thinking, what’s in the world is “me time”, and how do I get some.  Tending to a family, daily demands, housework, and everything else that comes along with life can make it difficult to find time for yourself each day, but finding time for “me time” is important.  Even if it’s just small things you do to get time for yourself it can make a world of difference in your life, and the way you handle situations.

I used to put myself on the back burner day after day, until my mom told me that I needed to take some time for me, and do something I wanted to with. I thought of myself, “yes right” there is no way I am going to get away without at least one of the kids. It’s a rare occasion for me to go to the bathroom alone, take a shower without a little voice saying “mom”, or sleep next to my husband without a kid sneaking in bed and blaming it on a bad dream. I am totally find with my life, and I don’t mind kids crawling in bed, or coming in the bathroom while I am in there, but I didn’t realize how important it is to have time for yourself each day.  Even if my alone time is small, it makes a big difference.

By taking time out for yourself helps yo get in touch with yourself, thoughts, and emotions. It can actually help you be a better parent, wife, friend, daughter, and most importantly help you to feel better where it matters so you can better handle situations and make better decisions.

Here are a few ways for you to get a few minutes for “Me Time” each day:

Wake up 20 minutes earlier than everyone – If you’re a morning person, it might be a good idea to wake up earlier than normal, which should allow you time to be by myself, drink a cup of coffee, or jump in the shower without hearing little footsteps.

Lunch – Spend lunch with yourself.

Drive – Go for a short drive, turn up the music and let your mind absorb the day before you go home. This was my way of getting alone time each day. I had a certain route I followed, which game me about 30 minutes to deal with day so I didn’t take home any extra baggage.

Gym – Visit the gym, and leave the kids at home.

Grocery shopping – If you enjoy shopping, ALONE – grocery shopping can be reading if the kids are at home.

Stay up late – If you are not the morning person, you might try staying up after the kids have gone to bed.

Walk – Go on a walk, there is nothing like exercise and time to think.

Lock yourself in the bathroom – Hey now and then we have to do what we have to do, lol. I have done this when my husband is home, and typically I play makeover. Try something new with my hair, put on fun makeup, or whatever else I can manage to get into while I am locked in the bathroom.

Sit outside – Sneak outside, and just watch the clouds, stars, and get some fresh air.  One of my favorite things is getting me time, while enjoying mother nature.

Watch TV – Wait until the kids head to bead, and watch some grown up shows.  It’s nice to turn off the cartoons, and watching something like Outlander when the kids are in bed.

I had the opportunity of sneaking a peek at the Time Warner Cable: Outlander Series on Starz, and it looks like it’s going to be GREAT! Don’t worry I have all the details for you, but I am going to tell you the best I can without letting the beans out of the bag!  I tend to like to spoil the fun, lol.  I pinky-promise not to:)

things to do for me time

The Outlander Series will be on Starz, Saturday, August 9th 2014 at 9PM EST/PST. I was talking to my mom, and mentioned the Outlander TV series and I thought she was going to do a back flip, lol. I honestly didn’t realize she had read the Outlander series of books, but she said it’s one of her favorites. My mom told me the books were too big for me, lol. I know, it hurt my feelings, but I know what she was trying to say – I don’t have patience, so it’s a good things they came out with the Outlander on Starz.

Now would be a good time to break the news to anyone you typically hang out with on Saturday, because for the net eight Saturdays I’m sure you’re going to be busy watching Outlander, with me, my mom, and everyone else! Whether you read the book like my mom, or you’re too impatient like me, we all have something in common – The next 8 Saturdays starting August 9, 2014 we will be chilling, enjoying some ME TIME enjoying the Outlander.

I don’t want to tell you a lot bout the Outlander, because I always get so mad when people spill the beans. If you have read any of my movie reviews you already know, when I like something I spill the beans. I just cannot help it, I get so excited, and well that’s why the blog is named Jenns Blah Blah Blog – I talk to much every now and again, lol.

“Outlander” is a story that follows a women by the name of Claire Randall, who is a married combat nurse from 1945. She is mysteriously sweep back in time to 1743, where she is in an unknown world, and her life is threatened. She is forced to marry chivalrous young Scottish warrior, who is named Jamie. When an affair is ignited that breaks Claire’s heart between two different men, and two amazing lives. The Outlander is exclusively brought to you by Time Warner Cable on Starz, and if you didn’t already know, the series adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books, it’s a must see on August 9th!

I love it when you learn about a show, and you cannot wait to watch it. I honestly don’t watch TV much, and there is not a lot of shows that grab me and pull me in, but Outlander did. I have waited for August 9th for what seems like months – it’s only been a little over a week, maybe two.

The cast is great, the landscape is epic, and the contrast and look of the shows time periods is fantastic. Oh, and the reasons it’s perfect for your “Me Time” is because it’s not a show for kids – adults only viewing, means an awesome excise to watch an awesome show and sneak in some ME TIME!
