Getting Animals to Get Along Under One Roof

I have always had all kinds of animals and getting animals to get along under one roof can be a bit stressful at times but it’s totally doable.

If you know me, you know I love my animals, especially my pitbull Skittles.  He has been with me for a long time, and like me, he has grown up and changed as loved ones and as life needed us to.

Getting Animals to Get Along Under One Roof

Skittles used to be what I called a one-person dog; now he’s a family dog and a pit bull with a few bunny friends.  Yes, seriously, friends like to lay together and even share the front seat of the car while we drive down the road to check the mail.

Everyone always asks me how I get all these animals to get along, lol.  Honestly, they do it.  The above picture is of Skittles and Trip. Everyone knows that Skittles is the old man of the house, and they respect him.  They don’t try to fight or anything; Skittles is allowed to be the grumpy old man he needs to be for the rest of his day.

I do my very best to keep them exposed to other animals from the time they are little.  Gosh, my dogs will even lounge outside with the duck running all over the place and not touch a feather.  Between you and me, seven years ago, I wouldn’t have thought my oldest pitbull, Skittles, would be as calm and well-mannered as he is.  I trust this guy so much; he’s getting older now, but he has just been the best dog.  When it was just him and me, he had a lot of spunk and was kind of a jerk, but looking back, he was watching out for me.  Now that my husband is around and he is a family dog, he is so much more relaxed.  Spoiled and comfortable, lol, but he deserves it because I don’t even have to tell him anything; he just knows what he is and isn’t allowed to do.

Do you get your pups Christmas gifts?  I do; there is no way I can forget about the dogs that love us, protect us, and depend on us.  They want something yummy too, right?  While I’m Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping, you better believe I’m going to grab my pups something.

We never had pets growing up. My husband and I adopted a dog when we got married. Mulligan was an awesome dog for 16 years. When he came along I understood why all my friends loved dogs. When we got Maggie a Lab when he was 2. She loved him, but he tolerated her. Both dogs were a blessing.

We have a dog and a cat and they both get along with each other. They even accept my sons labs when they come over. We love our pets. Thank you for sharing
